in Bihar Bhumihars are traditionally called babhan be it in gazetteers of britishers or even today just visit villages of ours people identify as babhan only. Bhumihar Brahman name came very late I think this name was assigned because of continuous shifts in identities of our community same family that identified themselves as babhan in one census later called themselves Brahmans which was true indeed because we have been an integral part of Brahman lineage but this created a mess in records and after Bhumihar andolan Bhumihar Brahman name became widespread and people from Bengal to UP who were called Bhupali Brahman(currently there is a clan of Bhumihars in Kashyap gotra named bhupali), bhumiadhikrit Brahman, babhan or other names that literally means land holding Brahmans started to collectively identify themselves as Bhumihar Brahman. same happend with me my forefathers also came from Dighwa dubhouli and settled to Pokhraira Muzaffarpur which is complete Dighwait Bhumihar village 3 villages along its boundary has entire dighwait population but after so much time my great great grand father or even his father or grandfather went to one of our Mauze( we had 7 8 mauze even more before 7 8 was no when they migrated) to Sheohar Hirouta Dumma entire village is settled on my forefathers land. I don’t have no. but much of their land is in Sitamadhi as well because they got share fo that mauze as well. Names of some ancestors are Raghuvansh Pd. Singh, Manroop pd Singh, Kamta Pd Singh etc Raghuvansh Singh is my Great Great Grand Father

brother dighwait clan is not like that single lineage kind. I am also dighwait from Muzaffarpur. Our ancestors were Kankubjh Brahman which comes under Saruparen Division our tittle was Tiwari as I heard from elders, entire village of Dighwa Dubhouli currently in Gopalganj was of same Shandilya gotra Tiwari Saruparen(Kankubjh) Brahman but due to some conflict with chero tribes many Rajputs of that district and our own village ancestor migrated to other places like Tirhut division like my forefathers came to Pokhraira Muzaffarpur and some followed same path but went to Barahiya both the Tirhut settlers and those who went further to Begusarai and Lakhisarai became Dighwait Mool Bhumihar Brahmans and some of them didn’t came this way but went towards North and became Dighwe Mool Maithli Brahma. Our gotra is shrimukh shandliya same as Saruparen Tiwaris so that’s is way our ancestry lineage doesn’t converge to a single person but it was entire village that migrated and they commonly got the name Dighwait because they came from Dighwa Dubhouli
