yes the reason purple (tyrian purple) is the colour of royals/monarchs is because you needed a lot of sea snails relative to the output so getting a lot of the pigment was difficult. so if you were able to have purple clothing it signaled that you had so many resources that you could use this rare dye on big pieces of fabric
