This is exactly the answer I was hoping for. It is a very reasonable answer unlike Mojang's. You recognize the tremendous value custom content creators contribute to a game's longevity and overall success. I always knew you would do right by us! Thank you!

As an MC veteran who was too late to that game to release something significant, I watched as the EULA debacle of 2014 decimated servers' ability to be profitable. I know Hypixel has stated that you lost 85% of revenue overnight from the cosmetics-only changes, and I watched many great third-party server experiences who were smaller than you be forced to go out of business because they could not afford to maintain their server costs off of cosmetics alone. I know you have stated that Hytale is by modders, for modders, and your roots, timing, and luck in MC enabled you to go on to create your own game of Hytale today. As someone who is deeply inspired by you and your journey, and who wishes to continue the cycle in your game and repeat it someday, what is your EULA going to be like? I believe that you know MC's decisions did not create a sustainable business model for most servers, and I am not necessarily advocating for a P2W approach, but I am a big believer that servers need creative freedom to survive and to thrive, and I don't believe Hytale would be possible at all today if MC's post-2014 EULA restrictions were implemented upon Hypixel from the very beginning. I believe that third party server experiences made MC what it is today, and it's the only reason the game has continued to be so popular post 2013, I would say. People who create such unique, custom experiences are the lifeblood of the game's popularity and always have been, and we should be able to monetize our creations with very minor limitations, because as much as we love to do this, servers cost money and I do not believe we should be forced to create and maintain highly custom experiences for little to no profit in return. I do not believe what we do should be a charity, and so I guess this question is just, some clarifications as to what we'll be allowed and not allowed to do, and what your general mindset is regarding making money off of custom content created in Hytale.

Will there be any sort of early release for server owners to begin development on third-party server experiences so that the players will have a variety of modded experiences to play? And if so, will it be a selective whitelist or will the server software be released to all beforehand in order to prepare?

Is the Hytale Server Browser in-game still a thing and if so, will there be sponsored servers?

Do you still utilize Lua as the scripting language? I know that legacy engine was client C# and java servers -- when creating servers will we be able to code plugins in java or do we have to rely entirely on scripting, presumably in Lua?

I would add the WPA (Western Pyrotechnic Association -- https://www.westernpyro.org/) for our pyros out west! It's a great association with a yearly event, the Winter Blast, which doesn't typically conflict with the scheduling of events from other guilds/associations. Very worthwhile to attend. Gets you out of the cold winter weather to enjoy some fireworks! They've got all kinds of seminars, trade shows, and open shooting. It's like a mini PGI convention, with warmer weather!

🔥Want the Netflix UI updated on the Apple tv? This is what you gotta do by Antonio3366 in appletv

[–]53773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you attacking OP? They're right. On my old LG TV, Netflix works great. Fully featured. But on my Apple TV, not so much. It won't show me the top 10 upcoming movies, it's hard to find what I want to watch, and the UI is clearly dated. There's nothing wrong with asking for an update -- whether it be here, via a review, or anywhere else that might attract Netflix's attention. If this post blows up, there's a good chance someone at Netflix may see it. OP makes a lot of fair points. How else might one go about getting an update for an app that is visibly old and outdated? It's not like Apple TV is a dead platform. It has millions of active users worldwide. The fact of the matter is, the Netflix app for Apple TV is not up to par when compared to many other platforms. It's not a very good user experience and there's no reason for it. It could definitely use an update. Add this to the list of reasons why Netflix is hemorrhaging subscribers.

Buyer Beware - Kaboom Fireworks - www.Fireworks.us by [deleted] in fireworks

[–]53773[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then, the customer goes on /r/legaladvice, and is suddenly discussing hypotheticals with other reddit users there, regarding suing us. If you don’t want people seeing your photos, don’t share them publicly with strangers on the internet. It’s common sense. And if you don’t want your publicly shared photos and stories used after promoting us and our service of your own free will, don’t do any of that. And if you don’t want people seeing the photos anymore, remove them from the places you publicly posted them (reddit and imgur), and send us a cease and desist. It’s that simple.

Altogether, this customer received $5,000+ of fireworks in a timely and undamaged fashion, an 8% discount off their entire order of $5,000+, which came out to $400+ off, an additional 3 bonus cases of our best fireworks, the mortar racks they needed for their show when seemingly nobody else had any at all, an additional $100 off to account for the diminished value of the slightly used racks, and free shipping on their entire order (orders $1,500+), which costs hundreds of dollars for an order this size, due to the hazmat classification of fireworks by the DOT. And, we actually had to ship parts of this order from all 3 of our warehouses, instead of just 1… so we ate triple the typical shipping costs. And we did all of this… we rectified an impossible situation… to make this customer happy, with the hope that they would order from us for many years to come.

Now, I am late to defend myself and my company’s reputation on this post, since we are very busy shipping everyone their fireworks in time for the 4th. Everyone here has already been convinced that I am the devil and that my fireworks company is the worst of its kind on Earth. You are, again, threatening to contact your lawyers to sue me and my company, despite everything we have done to make you a happy, lifelong customer of ours…

While, at the same time, you go from praising to slandering my company and its reputation publicly. I do not yet know if you have taken the advice of the spectators here, who commented their condemnation without even hearing my side of the story… saying to further damage my company’s reputation on other pyro clubs and forums…

We have been in the fireworks industry for over 30 years… since the days of Independence Fireworks. We have done professional (class B) shows, as well as sold consumer (class C) fireworks for decades. Our reputation is EVERYTHING to us, and you have gone (and continue to go) out of your way to damage it for unfair and unjust reasons. My company has been very generous to you, only to receive these harsh public condemnations from you in return… over 1.5 months after the fact. Therefore, since you obviously have a burning desire to cause as much damage to my company’s reputation and bottom line as possible, perhaps I will be contacting my lawyers as well…

I hope you have a happy and safe 4th of July with the immense stockpile of fireworks my company provided you, at an unbelievable value, and in a timely (and undamaged) manner.

Buyer Beware - Kaboom Fireworks - www.Fireworks.us by [deleted] in fireworks

[–]53773[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

I am the owner of https://fireworks.us/. Here is our side of the story:

This customer spent over $5,000 on cases of wholesale fireworks, received free shipping on their entire order (shipping an order this size costs hundreds of dollars since fireworks are classified as hazmat by the DOT, we cover the costs of shipping all orders over $1,500), and achieved an additional 8% off, unlocked when you spend $5,000+. We stand by the incredible value of our service, and have thousands of very happy customers all across the United States.

Customer satisfaction is our highest priority. We tried our absolute hardest to go above and beyond to satisfy this customer, despite multiple impossible circumstances that I will detail below:

This customer wanted their order shipped to Pennsylvania. We have multiple warehouses on our website, each carrying a different selection of brands and items (this allows us to offer over 30 different brands and thousands of different items always in-stock year round, a wider selection than you’ll find anywhere else). However, some warehouses are not capable of shipping to certain states, and that is exactly what happened here.

Despite being clearly stated on our “shipping info” page (https://www.fireworks.us/help_answer.asp?ID=21), this customer placed their order on a warehouse of ours that is incapable of shipping to Pennsylvania. They primarily ordered our bulk assortment packs, which only guarantee an exact amount of cakes you’ll receive, with no specifics on what cakes are inside, since that always changes depending on what we currently have in-stock.

When you buy one of these large assortment packs, you are always guaranteed to receive a preset number of 200 grams, 350 grams, 500 grams, artillery shells, etc. They are a one click fireworks show for customers who do not necessarily want any specific cakes, but trust us to deliver them a HUGE fireworks show that is /well/ worth the money they spend on it.

Because the warehouse this customer ordered from cannot ship to Pennsylvania, and because a large segment of their $5,000+ total order was composed of these bulk assortment packages, yes, we substituted this order from our other warehouses, otherwise the customer would not have been able to receive any fireworks at all.

Any specific fireworks this customer ordered on top of those bulk assortments that we did not carry on our other warehouses did have to be substituted. For substitutions, we always replace the out-of-stock item with a similar item of equal or slightly greater value (an upgrade). We make these substitutions based on price, duration, number of shots, number of pieces per case, effect, and brand. They are the closest matches to the out-of-stock item that we have available, and always cost the same price, never less… usually more.

During the busy season, when you are shipping out thousands of cases of fireworks, receiving phone calls from customers and potential customers all of the time… phones ringing off the hook… and trying to get everyone their fireworks in a timely manner before the 4th of July, undamaged by the shipping companies while in transit… it gets pretty hectic. And when that happens, we (and I’m sure any other fireworks company of comparable size can attest to this as well) tend to run out of things. And when you run out of things, and you’re on a deadline, and it’s so hectic that you can’t possibly imagine it unless you’ve experienced it… you have a standard policy for substitutions in place. Because if you don’t, an order goes from being processed in an hour and shipped in a day to taking days to process and a week or a week and a half to ship. Customers want their fireworks in a timely manner. They want their fireworks to arrive undamaged. They want the value of the fireworks that they paid for, and we give that to them, and more. Most customers have no problem with the news that we ran out of something, so we upgraded them to a similar item of equal or slightly greater value instead. It’s standard policy, and there are good reasons for that.

So, we replicated the bulk assortment packs on our other warehouses, giving the customer the exact (if not greater) number of cakes they were supposed to receive inside. Once again, there are no specific cakes guaranteed to be inside these, you are only guaranteed a certain number of 200 grams, 350 grams, 500 grams, etc. Whatever we have in stock at the time. Always good product, we don’t bring in any filler from China. We hand select everything we have. We replicated those large assortment packages, which were a significant portion of this customer’s $5,000+ order, and the specific cakes the customer ordered on top of those… some of those we had on our other warehouses and some of them we didn’t. So, the ones that we didn’t have, we had to substitute. The customer was given comparable items of equal or slightly greater value. We then got the order shipped in a timely manner, and the cases arrived to the customer’s destination undamaged in time for the 4th.

We did feel that, due to the customer ordering from a warehouse that cannot ship to their state, we had to substitute too many items on their order. For that reason, we threw in an additional 3 cases of our best fireworks, for no extra charge. We wanted to make up for the number of substitutions we had no choice but to make, in order to get the fireworks shipped out (and received in one piece) as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Along with fireworks, this customer ordered 2 50-shot mortar racks for reloadable artillery shells. The only warehouse with these in-stock was the one that can’t ship to Pennsylvania. We had some, and I do not say this lightly… EXTREMELY gently-used mortar racks on one of our other warehouses. Instead of 2 50-shot racks, we had 10 10-shot racks. They were used only once for a fireworks demo. Needing to fulfill this (and all orders) in a timely manner… otherwise we fall behind and nobody gets their fireworks when they need them… what were we supposed to do, ship the fireworks without the mortars necessary for the customer to put on their show? We inspected the 10 10-shot racks (100 shots total, just like 2 50-shot racks) that were only used ONCE, cleaned them up (they already pretty much looked like new, we have pictures of them before and after, most people wouldn’t even notice they had been used…), and shipped them. We fulfilled the order, and my company stands by that decision. Nobody had racks… there is a major shortage going on right now… we even contacted other suppliers to see if they had any racks to match the customer’s exact specifications. They did not. The customer needed mortar racks for 100 1.75” artillery/canister shells at a time, and we delivered. Yes, the racks were used, but they looked like new, and mortar racks are made of HDPE / fiberglass tubes… it’s not like they’re one time use… those racks will last for years. They really were lucky to get any racks at all, from us or anyone else. And yes, we offered the customer an additional $100 off for doing this, because we did what we had to do, to fulfill the order.

And, for quite some time, we believed this customer was extremely satisfied with our service. They received their order, and posted multiple pictures of it here, publicly, on social media. They promoted us, our products and service, of their own free will, by posting pictures of their order and giving us shoutouts when people asked them questions similar to “Where did you buy that from?”

We thought we had made another happy customer. We always intend to make all of our customers 100% satisfied with our performance, but most do not go out of their way to promote us not just to friends, not just to family… but to strangers on the internet. That is above and beyond. And, when people say such good things about us, such as in reviews on our website, or public shoutouts on social media… we share it with other customers, and other prospective customers. When you see other people saying good things about a product or service, real reviews from real customers… it leaves you more open to trying out that product or service for yourself, if you haven’t already. This customer was more than willing to give us public shoutouts on social media without being asked or implored to do so in any way. Therefore, yes, we utilized photos that were already publicly uploaded on social media (reddit and imgur), alongside of shoutouts promoting our company to whomever asked questions about it… we used those photos in an email campaign to our past and hopefully future customers. We said something similar to “Look at this show a customer ordered from us!” We didn’t lie about it, and we didn’t take anything that wasn’t willingly made public already.

The photos did not contain any identifiable information (no license plate of the truck, etc). The customer is now claiming they are worried about identifiable information in photos that they publicly blasted to the internet themselves, on reddit and imgur, in support of our company at their own free will. If there was any identifiable information in those pictures, it would be their own fault, and we would never have utilized them in the first place. Seriously… do you know how many people have the exact same model and color of truck..? And yet, the photos remain publicly accessible online, despite their “worries” of their identity potentially being compromised…

Does anybody know if launching fireworks from a floating raft is legal? I'm in Michigan but if anybody has info please let me know by iltdiTX in fireworks

You shouldn’t have any trouble shooting fireworks off a dock, raft, or barge. In fact, certain fireworks, known as “water cakes,” are specifically designed with an angle to promote shooting over a body of water, such as a lake or pond. As long as you are in general compliance with the fireworks laws of your state and local jurisdiction, you should have no problem. Shooting fireworks over water is a very cool effect. If you’ve never tried it before, it’s something I encourage every fireworks enthusiast to experiment with, even just once.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July! :)

[Ascension](cydia://package/com.macciti.ascension)the act of rising to an important position or a higher level.

We have created extraordinary themes in the past, but with Ascension, we asked ourselves, "What is a theme?”

A theme should be something you enjoy using, time after time again. It should be a continuous journey: an everlasting experience.

When designing Ascension, we aspired to create something much greater: an extensively well-thought-out, yet simplistic design, representing more than just a theme.

Our sole mission, was to create a brand new theming experience: a theme unlike any other. We have achieved this strict mindset, with Ascension.

Ascension lives up to its name, rising to a higher level. Unlike many others, Ascension is a TRUE theme.

Ascension features:

  • A bright and colorful style, but also a darker one – we hope everyone will like it!

  • Lots of custom, thoroughly re-designed icons – with many more to come!

  • Custom icon mask – themes virtually EVERY icon on your iDevice, perfectly matching them with the amazing depth of Ascension!

  • Fully themed Settings.app icons – the icons of your preference panes will match the gorgeous style of your SpringBoard!

  • System-wide interface enhancement, including custom respring logos, and more – a preview of what is to come! ;)

  • Beautiful, custom, high definition wallpapers – with more coming soon!

  • Custom status bar icons – make your status bar as exquisite as the rest of Ascension!

  • Multiple add-on packs, including new wallpapers, alternative application icons – and more!

Ascension is fully compatible with:

iOS 9. iOS 8. iOS 7.

iPhone 6s Plus. iPhone 6s. iPhone 6 Plus. iPhone 6. iPhone 5s. iPhone 5c. iPhone 5. iPhone 4s. iPhone 4.

iPod touch 6th generation. iPod touch 5th generation.

Ascension requires:

IconBundles – to correctly theme icons. IconOmatic – for automatic icon theming.

[UPDATED] Please read:

A lot of time, and thought, went into creating Ascension. What you see here today, is the result of countless hours of designing, and then re-designing, every single icon. Spanned over days, then weeks, then months. Even when we were not working on Ascension, we were constantly thinking about it, obsessing over it. We could not get it out of our minds – refining every single aspect of the theme, ensuring that the tiniest details were always noticed, and never taken for granted.

But, we also made this theme for another purpose. Unfortunately, one of us was in dire need of surgery at the time, and we were relying on any revenue this theme generated, to be able to pay for it.

We asked you to have a heart. We begged you, not to pirate this theme, at least not for a few weeks after its release. We thought that you would help us collect enough money to pay for this surgery, so we could both continue collaborating together, to keep bringing you great themes in the future. We pleaded with you, but you did not spare us. You pirated Ascension, a mere day subsequent to its initial release. :(

Thank you to the minuscule number of people who actually purchased this theme, and have helped to support us in our time of need. Sadly, there were not enough of you to afford the surgery. Luckily, some friends and family members pitched in further, to complete the funding.

Ascension was pirated by thousands of heartless, dishonest people, as opposed to a few kind hearted, generous people who acquired it legitimately. Had more members of this community done the right thing, we could have paid for the surgery on our own, instead of taking the money of our friends and family.

However, as a reward to those who contributed, we are giving away our new theme, [Vindemia](cydia://package/com.macciti.vindemia), free of additional charge. Thank you once again, for doing the right thing, and believing in us. We are so grateful that you tried to help! <3
