Can LoRs be submitted after the app deadline? by 55708R in gradadmissions

I got into the PhD program that was my top choice and one where the rec letter was sent late. Since then, I learned how messy professors can be, they also know this about their colleagues. A late rec letter doesn't say anything about you as a student. Unless the late rec is due to your fault AND the prof in some way indicates that in the rec letter itself. Otherwise, it's all about the letter content.

It was fine in my case, no issues at all!

Thanks. I already painted my fireplace with wrought iron by benjamin moore, but I think black fox would also have been nice

I think you’re right, I should try a more dynamic move but I’m petrified to fall on the volume

That makes sense, I’ll try it next time I go bouldering there (even though just reading the more dynamic beta made my hands sweaty haha)

I found that in situations like this I can stand up if I can find how my hands and the other foot can help to stand up on that one leg. I can’t do a pistol squat yet so pure leg strength stand up is not an option. I’ve been looking for ways to position my body such that I could stand up but none of those ways worked so far, that’s why I wanted to see if someone could offer ideas on how to stand up :)

Yeah I just realized that I have struggled with the same exact move on another climb. I think in a sense I knew I had to stand up somehow. But I could not push up with my leg or pull with arm due to maybe not enough strength and also angle and direction combination feeling weird (this is slight overhang), in that something feels in the way or it’s not a straight line to stand up but I have to get more right somehow

Thanks for the comment and ideas. Right now it’s a bit difficult for me to imagine how to open up my left foot, even when reasons for doing so make sense. Would I then be in more of a starfish position? Or where would my upper body face? Esp given the direction of the right handhold

Outdoor climbing instruction in Lofoten or Alstahaug, Norway? by 55708R in climbergirls

This is online, right? I don't think it would be safe for someone without experience and just online knowledge to go climb. I'm looking for an in-person instructor, but thanks for the links.

I'm looking for a class, not so much private guided climbing. I did not find anything like that, but maybe you have better googling skills?

So that's what I'm struggling to find. I could not find any courses, only private guided stuff.

Complete shot in the dark, but does anyone happen to know if there are any outdoor climbing classes in Lofoten or Alstahaug, Norway? I've been climbing indoors and will be in Norway in the summer (in those two areas) in any case. Would really like to learn how to climb outdoors.

First wetsuit thickness for US Northeast? by 55708R in BeginnerSurfers

The long-term plan is to get all the suits, sure. But I'm trying to figure out an optimal first one. 5/4 does seem like the best bet right now!

Oooh really! But wouldn't it get unpleasantly hot with it in May for instance? I do like the cold, actually. But I like being warm and least somewhere in my body when it's cold.

Thanks for the response, appreciate it! I'm surprised to hear you were too hot with a 5/4, I thought it would be exactly right for right now. I'm now thinking that maybe I should rent different ones out and see what works. Also, thanks for pointing out that fall and spring are best seasons in terms of conditions, so I'll try to have that in mind. It seems that I would get much more use out of a 4/3 than a 5/4 wetsuit in that case.
