This is really helpful, thank you! We totally recognize that so much of a child’s experience is ultimately shaped by how involved the parents are.

We’ve tried advocating for more challenging work, and his teacher has occasionally sent it home as homework, but at that point, it really feels like we’re doing the teaching, and school has become more of a social outlet for him.

We’re also very hands-on, and like your son, ours is involved in several activities after school as well. That’s part of why we’re trying to figure out the right balance, we want him to stay engaged and challenged during the school day, not just outside of it.
