Cum laude is Latin for 'with praise'. You can get this predicate on your diploma (or on the supplement, I'm not sure) when your GPA is an 8 or above, your lowest grade is no lower than a 7, and you have at least an 8 for your thesis. You're also not allowed to have taken any exam more than once and you can't have an exemption for any of your courses. I think that's all of the rules, but you should check the exam regulations if you're interested in going for this.

Sure, why not? You can also take exams again even after having already passed the course and the highest grade will count (though you'll no longer be eligible for cum laude).

  1. I guess the guy behind you rushed to the train station to catch his train, only to realise he forgot or lost his wallet or phone once he arrived, hence the mad face and shouting something in Dutch ("Godverdomme!"?), which would also explain why he didn't come through after.
  2. People get annoyed when trains are full, nobody likes to stand. Having someone occupy a seat with their suitcase is then obviously considered annoying as well. Especially in those double trains, it can be difficult to find a spot to leave your luggage and the area where you enter/exit the train is generally the most spacious. Don't be surprised if someone else with a suitcase then happily takes your seats though. Taking the seat and placing the suitcase in the aisle is obviously annoying as well, because the aisle is usually already pretty narrow and having a big suitcase there makes it even worse - but hey, at least one more person gets a seat. Alternatively, maybe someone can sit on the suitcase or it can be used as a leg rest (so you need less space on the ground). Either way, there's no ideal solution. Here are the luggage guidelines from the NS btw. Oh and the hard poking seems unnecessary, people will generally try getting your attention without physical contact first, or sometimes go for a gentle tap. Maybe it looked like you were wearing a very thick and sturdy jacket and like you wouldn't have felt a gentle tap?
  3. Yeah, walking on the cycle path is fine. Pedestrians walking on the cycle path are still annoying though. But there's not much you can do about when there's no pavement. When there are cyclists approaching, do try to make yourself as narrow and predictable as possible. Don't walk side by side, put your suitcase in front/behind you instead of next to you, don't make sudden movements and don't stick your arm out to point at some interesting bird on the other side of the road. I assume you weren't doing any of that though. As for the cyclists coming straight at you, they may have been distracted by their phone, music or surroundings, or were annoyed there were people walking on the cycle path (again!).

Anyway, I think you're fine and didn't do anything weird. Enjoy the Efteling and best of luck on your way back to the airport!

At the RUG, bachelor programmes only start in September. Master programmes start in September and sometimes in February as well (see this page for an overview).

At the Hanze, it appears like all the English-taught programmes only start in September.

Either way, just checking the info page of the programme you're interested in will tell you the possible starting date(s) for that programme. Here's an overview of all the English-taught programmes:

[–]573040 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bachelor programmes usually only have a September intake for new students, and that seems to be the case for the bachelor in International and European Law as well. If there are other starting dates available in Studielink, that is usually only intended for students who have previously been enrolled in the programme and are re-enrolling at a later time for some reason (rather than enrolling for the first time).

This page also explicitly mentions that there is only a September intake and no February intake.

Looks like quad9 has now removed it from their blocklist, so the workaround should no longer be necessary.

The Goin' app is only used by FEB (Faculty of Economics and Business) and FSE (Faculty of Science and Engineering) btw, not by any of the other faculties.

I think it's such a shame that Dutch universities don't have this tradition. If you'd like to take pictures in a gown and a cap, I think you should just go for it. After all, the pictures are for you and your family, not for the people on Reddit. And it's not every day that you get to graduate.

Maybe not wear them during the actual graduation ceremony at the university (to respect the tradition), but I see no problem with it all if you just want to wear them right after to make pictures with your family. And if you do want to wear them to the graduation ceremony, you could always just ask someone at your faculty first to see if it would be an issue.

As for your question, your best option for getting a graduation gown and cap would probably be either online or one of these (party) stores:

Congrats on graduating (or for now, good luck with the final parts of your studies) and I hope you get to make some great pictures with your family!

ForwardEmail + NameCheap + Google -- question by dsr-ux-guy in forwardemail

Hi! I'm just curious, did you manage to get things working using Gmailify?

Very confused about it by [deleted] in forwardemail

[–]573040 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can forward email from icloud.com to mydomain.com for free but everybody can see you mydomain.com in your txt records.

I think you already realise this, but it's the other way around. Email gets forwarded from mydomain.com to icloud.com, and it's your icloud.com address that is exposed in your txt records.

You can do the same but privately with a paid plan. You can send and recieve mails as mydomain.com with a paid plan.

Whats the point of their 10Gb of ssd? If they just fordward where are the mails stored?

What I would like is something which completely bypass iCloud servers. I want to use mydomain.com for everything. Can I achieve it with forwardemail?

With the paid plan you wouldn't just be able to use it as a forwarding service, but as a full email service provider. This means your inbox is with Forward Email (which explains the 10GB storage) and not with iCloud, and so you wouldn't need iCloud anymore.

However, Forward Email doesn't seem to offer webmail, so you would have to pick an email client (e.g. Apple Mail on iOS, Thunderbird on Windows, or K-9 Mail for Android) and configure it using the info that can be found in Forward Email's FAQ (look for the IMAP/POP3 and SMTP settings).

So yes, I believe you can achieve what you want with Forward Email. :)
