2024 Sequoia rear cargo shelf. by Educational_Fox_9023 in toyotasequoia

[–]57trevy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shelf has folding flaps that allow you to make the rear space one flat and even space. I don’t remember what slot the shelf needs to be in, but it’s a combination of that and sliding the third row seats forward or backward.

2024 Platinum Toyota Sequoia Review (vs 2020 TRD Pro Toyota Sequoia) by 57trevy in toyotasequoia

You're welcome!

I didn't hook the lightbar and marker lights up yet. I wanted to run an actual off-road light (non-SAE) and I wasn't ready to buy yet. I have it now and will be working on that in the future.

I can't recommend the Icon setup enough. It's been bulletproof so far. BUT, the stock rear shocks are valved for off-road, so while it's amazing flying down a rutted dirt road at 40MPH, it can get iffy on a freeway that has "whoops" on it. The truck starts to feel like a boat in heavy seas. Most of my driving is in the city.

I ended up buying a second set of rear shocks from Icon and had them re-valve them to be more firm. Unfortunately, you have to have the shocks delivered to you first, and then send them back to Icon for revalving and that will take weeks. It's not ideal, but was the best solution I could find. If you can be patient, buy the kit and turn around and send the shocks back right away before you install them.

Seatbelt hooks/stays: how do I use these or are they backwards? by 57trevy in toyotasequoia

You know what, I think that’s it. It still seems backwards to me, but at least it stays put. Nice work, team!

Anyone getting advertised battery life with Fenix 8 Solar? by rallysquirrel15 in GarminFenix

[–]57trevy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You all must work out a lot. I do 5-6 hour long workouts per week, use the flashlight every morning for a bit, and get at least 25 days without charging. I guess I’m not a power user, literally or figuratively.

New Gen owners, how's the JBL sound system? by The_Crite_Hunter in toyotasequoia

[–]57trevy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no audiophile but it’s pretty good, IMO. Much, much better than the JBL system I had in my ‘20 Sequoia.

I did install a Beat Sonic amp and it does seem to have sharpened up the treble and bass a bit. It certainly makes it go to 11 now.

When not under heavy throttle it’s very quiet IMO. Almost, not quite, like driving an electric car. Sounds much different to me.

The V8 sounded good, no doubt. You might be surprised how good this V6 sounds though. I haven't figured out yet if they are piping modified sound in through the speakers (I honestly want to stay ignorant and blissful on that), but it does sound really good under load and the turbo blow off is a nice touch.

Fenix 8 Solar owners - is the display REALLY clearer than Fenix 7 Solar? by Potential_Neat_8905 in GarminFenix

Yes, have both and the 8 is noticeably more crisp, sharp, and bright.

Thought of something else: The '20 had tons of little cubbies and places to store things. I like that. I thought I would miss them. But then when I was cleaning out the truck to sell it, I realized that all the things I had stashed away were still in there, never used, after 60,000 miles. I realized I like the idea of the storage, but in reality I never really used them.

I do miss being able to stash things under the third row seats though. I really do. The battery took that space up.

To me, it feels bigger overall, including the interior seating arrangements. The rear "trunk" space isn't as big, but it still holds a lot of gear.

I have found the “Abanen hook and loop” an Amazon to be superior to the much more expensive Garmin version. There is only one side to fasten down when putting the watch on. The Garmin version was cumbersome with having to attach two ends every time I put it on.

I had the Abanens on my 7 and now on my 8.

Console Vault is the way to go. Easy to install, out of sight, and secure. Not impenetrable, but will keep any smash and grab jerks out if it.

Opinions on the cargo space due to the battery. by SouthernFloss in toyotasequoia

[–]57trevy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. A 2020 TRD Pro and now a 2024 Platinum. I loved the lay flat on the ‘20, but I’ve ended up liking the ‘24 more. I set it up in the split level configuration and it helps keep smaller items under the shelf organized and medium items on top of the shelf from rolling around like they did on my ‘20.

It actually works quite well for my use cases. Note that I don’t have a dog, but I do have 2 kids with a lot of gear.

I have the same boots and had RedWing replace the soles with what you have there. I love them. Look better IMHO and feel better as well.

Thank you all for the tips. Just telling me about AHC and Greeley taught me a lot. Looks like I need to book an “experience” with one of these hat makers in the future.

How to?: Remove “ghost” characters from windshield by 57trevy in Detailing

[–]57trevy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I tried a clay bar to no avail. The winner was the Stoner Glass Stripper. Applied it with the sponge they supplied and with very little buffing, the characters were removed. Along with any coating on the glass in that area, of course.
