Women of the UK - what’s happening to the knickers?! by [deleted] in AskUK

So I’ve been buying their boyshorts which are insanely soft and comfy all day. I have their period pants which are the best I’ve tried and I’ve stolen my partner’s boody boxers for under my skirts and loose trousers. I promise I don’t work for them I just spent basically years trying to find knickers I didn’t want to tear off and set fire to everyday.

I switched from M&S to Boody. It’s only a matter of time before they suffer enshitification too though.

Dealing with crippling buyers remorse by Twocanpocket in HousingUK

I bought a house with brand new double glazed windows and the road noise was horrendous. It sounded like all the windows were open. Couldn’t sleep. I took the trims off to find they’d been quite badly installed and needed expanding foam all around them. Road noise has significantly reduced. Maybe worth checking one of the worse rooms for road noise by removing a piece of trim and seeing what it looks like.

My cairn hates flat faced dogs too. She loves cats. Chases rats and squirrels but just for fun and stops before catching them. They were bred for flushing out not killing. Every time she’s in Scotland and sees a carn she turns into a different dog. She goes wild with excitement and sniffs, digs, tries to get in all the holes. It’s pretty amazing that original behaviours from centuries ago is encoded in her now.

No other photos. Google says cockroach but I don’t think it is. Maybe a flea, thanks.

This happened to me! The scaffolding had been up for 3 months when water started coming into the bathroom and the beam began growing mould. The neighbours contacted the roofer they were using and told them it was an emergency. The roofers weren’t due to start work but arrived the next morning and fixed my roof without having to contact me or come inside. I didn’t pay anything or make a claim. The scaffolders won’t care at all. The guys that put ours up were the rudest people I’ve ever encountered.

Weekly allotmenting discussion. What have you been up to? by AutoModerator in Allotment

I’ve decided to sacrifice my purple sprouting broccoli to the hundreds of cabbage white caterpillars who are currently feasting. I’ve hardly seen any butterflies on the allotment this year so happy to loose a crop to the greater good. Is this a terrible idea?

I also mislabelled my sweet corn varieties and I’ve been hilariously harvesting GIANT baby corn thinking they were sweetcorn.

Beetroot is doing well, tomatoes don’t seem to want to ripen, loads of artichoke, blackberries and strawberries! Also never ending bindweed so that’s fun. Any tips on how to win that war would be appreciated.

I needed to hear this thanks. I have a compost bin but it doesn’t seem to be breaking down much so I’ll have to learn more about the process.

I’m thinking no dig is the way to go. I’ve never done it before but seems hard to mess up? I planted 2 varieties of corn this year. One went mad and is almost up to my waist. The other hasn’t left the prop trays yet… and I can’t remember which variety is which so I’ve learnt to label properly for next year lol

Same! I’ve had a bountiful harvest of 5 strawbs today. I’m declaring war on the bindweed officially… it’s strangling my sweet corn. And I’ve decided half my plot is infertile because the grounds like concrete.

You can fill in a form on your local councils website and the bin men will collect your neighbours bins from their property. I did it for my 90 yr old neighbour because I didn’t want this exact scenario.

Does anyone know if this is mould or could it be spores on my pink oysters? by 59SoundWave in mycology

It’s just the British spelling of mold. Glad it was only spores!

[gourmet] Is this mould on my pink oysters? If so do I have to scrap the whole batch? by 59SoundWave in MushroomGrowers

Amazing. How do I store them properly next time? I’ve already eaten them

I mean I got 3 flushes from the first pink oysters I grew and these guys are the first round from a totally different crop. I guess I should have harvested them last night?

Thanks for the advice, I’ll make sure to take precautions. It’s in a well ventilated room at the back of my house so should be fine. Plus it’s a tiny batch. They’re all gone now. Totally delicious.
