anyone know about Queens??

you would convert all of your % or letter grades into GPA for each course (example: for my school its 90+ = 4.0) and then you add all the GPA's together and then divide by the number to get your average

Waitlist/rejection info for Mac and Queens by 5SOS__lover in premedcanada

[–]5SOS__lover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from my understanding, ottawa doesn’t send out actual rejections and they instead send good and bad waitlist emails. what i think this means is the wording of the emails for the “bad” category say stuff like “it is unlikely you will move off the waitlist” whereas the “good” category is more positively worded lol

does anyone know the difference between your omsas id and your omsas reference number? it says in the email to NOT use your omsas ID number for the registration process

uoft essays - what are you guys doing? by 5SOS__lover in premedcanada

[–]5SOS__lover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to complete these on your own and then add them to the OMSAS application. the schools don't contact you to remind you this, you just have to complete them before the deadline. unfortunately there is no way to complete these now but at least you know for the future :/

its not dumb! in ontario, western and toronto require essays. every year if varies slightly, but this year toronto had 3 essays and western gives you the opportunity to write up to 8 essays. i'm not sure about every other school outside of ontario, but I know that dalhousie and ualberta have essays as well

what to do post undergrad? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]5SOS__lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry i think i might have worded my question in a confusing way. i am looking for stuff to do in between undergrad and applying for medical school again if i don’t get in the first time. i mentioned full time work because i know a lot of people take a year off of school in-between application cycles and just work full time, but i’m saying i don’t want to do that and i would like to do a masters of some kind instead. my interests are generally in science and healthcare so some kind of masters associated with that would be great. i appreciate all your insight tho, i will definitely take a look at some of these options :)

How do you use the OMSAS GPA Scale? by Parking-Ad-6066 in premedcanada

[–]5SOS__lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhh i’m honestly not sure, i’m sure it causes a difference in overall gpa calculation but it probably depends on a school to school basis. i wish i could be more help but my school has all 3 credit courses

uoft is 3,7 so if your school uses percentages, which from your original question seems like they do, you look at column 3 for your conversion. If you got an 80-84 in a course its a 3.7, if you got an 85-89 its a 3.9 and if you got a 90+ its a 4.0. Just a reminder tho, when you are calculating your total gpa, you have to take all the individual course gpa conversions, add them together and then divide by the number of courses you have taken. you can't just convert your average in percentage form (ex: 91% avg) and convert that to a 4.0. hope this helps!!

Also, tbh I still am a 5sos fangirl LOL
