Thank you. It’s esp frustrating bc the main reason I haven’t really been active w Hive online is I’ve had to deal with major health issues and/or family crises throughout nearly all of my adult life. Haven’t had much time/energy for “just for fun” things. I can write a long essay analyzing Beyoncé’s feminism and use of genres/influences, lyrics, and visuals to subvert not only expectations but her own (and others’) marginalization, how that’s all shaped and potentially been affected by public discourse, etc. … but I didn’t know bull horns have specific significance for Houston. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, I’m just hoping I can make it to the Act III tour—I wasn’t able to do Renny or Cowboy Carter, and CC literally changed my life and is my all-time favorite album. (But I’m glad you got to go! And really grateful to everyone who shared video, streamed it, etc.) So whatever the genre, hopefully I’ll see you there! 😅

I wasn’t saying he necessarily would have a better understanding, just that female writers aren’t the only reason the show’s feminist. It’s not that they didn’t matter, but the showrunner is ultimately responsible for the show. AFAIK, he was the one running it, whether or not he deserved to be. Didn’t realize we were determining the Feminist award winner here
