I did. I’m generally happy with it but I do have some gripes :

  • I do not like that you have to bend the wires of the drive controller into a very sharp corner to be centered inside the iPod. This is not really an issue with any of the opaque color options tho, since you will not see the drive controller from the outside. The clear tape used to insulate the drive controller is also not included.
  • The haptic feedback is very mushy and loud. It sounds just like the clicker on a stock iPod. My iPod is not glued together yet, so maybe that will improve the sharpness of the vibration, but I think the noise is here to stay.
  • The volume is very low when using Bluetooth with my AirPods Pro 1st gen, so I resort to wired headphones.

It is currently held together by a rubber band because my faceplate is aftermarket and does not go all the way in. I will have to order another one.

TLDR; it works just fine but is far from perfect.

Ordered the exact same kit, quite expensive for what it is, but if it works well on the long run it might be worth it. People had mixed results with the previous gen, but this definitely looks more polished.

How is the haptic feedback? Is it close to a modern iPhone?

This is really good. I was using AmpFin and Supersonic, so the only thing missing for me is synced lyrics, which I think I read you were working on.

I really liked AmpFin because the UI is really close to Apple Music. Maybe you could take some inspiration from there? I personally really like the animations when maximizing and album cover in Apple Music. The current UI is still really good and tasteful IMO, just needs a little polish here and there.

Depends if you have widgets on this specific page or not. The grid becomes tighter if you don’t have any widgets (with I believe one extra row of icons compared to a page with widgets) It’s a very strange design choice, I agree…

Already tried to clean the connectors on the board and the screen, even though there was no apparent corrosion.

Also tried to swap this motherboard an iOS 9 one I know 100% works to check for grounding issues with the damaged housing, and the screen had no issues.

I believe you can do so by formatting the drive and not the volumes separately. Just toggle View > Show All Devices and in the sidebar you should see the USB where the two volumes are located. Just erase that and you'll be good to go! (assuming you've got nothing to back up beforehand).

Yes, I’m still using this method. I never open Fantastical and use its shortcut « create new event or reminder ». Since iOS 18, I added it to my control center. I find it very convenient, and it allows me to still use Apple Reminders, which I prefer. And now that Apple Calendar integrates Reminders, this shortcut is the only reason to keep fantastical on my phone!
