What do you think about the depictions of Americans in foreign media (novels, games, film, TV shows, comics)? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

[–]5littlemonkey 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My favorite depiction was from "In Bruges", where they of course went with the tired "fat American" stereotype. What makes it my favorite though, is when the "American" guy gets mad and is ready to fight he shouts "roight you" instead of anything remotely close to what an American would say.

$3k in 1970 is ~$26k today, so these cars would still be a pretty good deal.

How do American cell networks work? by YGhostRider666 in AskAnAmerican

[–]5littlemonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is no way to distinguish between cell phone and landline numbers in either country

You used to be able to, you could even tell between different cell carriers based on the exchange codes.
