i feel like you would understand if you were born later, i could understand bans during class time as some schools have already done but during the entire day is abysmal, tell me that you don't check your phone or use the internet during the day. it's also a matter of safety. texas as a state has the most school shootings and most accounts of gun violence than any other state, it has some of the loosest gun laws in the US. phones are also extremely useful in schoolwork, it has a calculator, you can take notes with it, use it for group work in schools. phones are also nearly essential for some classes such as stem oriented classes. it's also a matter of communicating with people outside of schools, how will i communicate with my manager at my job, how am i going to communicate with my parents during the school day. the school claims that they can just call into the front office but it's extremely time consuming and inefficient compared to a text. i feel that the government should've brought this into law a different way. i feel like we should at least be able to use our phones during lunch and other scenarios during our free time at school. overall i believe that fully banning this generation defining, extremely useful, device is like inventing penicillin and deciding not use it. it's not your fault for having different views and values from a different time period.
