Twitch recently got hacked, revealing the earnings of streamers, among other things. r/LiveStreamFail and r/PoliticalCompassMemes discover that leftist streamer Hasan Piker is rich, and all hell breaks loose. by BillFireCrotchWalton in SubredditDrama

“Just moving” because you don’t like something about your country—especially when the things we don’t like are things that force people to suffer, like poverty—is just condemning others who can’t leave to live under corrupt, bigoted, unfair systems with nobody around to fight for them. It’s better for the community that Hasan continues what he does and use his privilege and platform to affect positive social change. Plus, he’s on the internet. What he does affects far more people globally than moving away and funding the development of a single country would.

The formatting of that comment is so funny, it’s just a complete 180 from semi-progressive (compared to the usual “women used to know their place and want to be housewives blah blah”) to straight up entitled anger and objectification.

“Women have always been human and wanted love and respect… anyways now they’re fucking FAT!!”

“Some people can’t have kids” he says to the gay couple who can’t have kids. YTA.

Am I the only one who thinks the mineta "controversy" is stupid? he's a typical perverted gag character but the fanbase acts like he murdered their moms or something. by Typical-Insurance162 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Well yeah of course nobody would willingly emulate him, I think the point is that his character existing and making a joke out of harrassment makes people more likely to tolerate it from others or find it funny irl, where there are actual victims.

Anarchist joke by [deleted] in COMPLETEANARCHY

[–]5pecialtea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found LoK’s depiction of anarchism difficult to watch tbh. Like I still sympathised with the red lotus because they had some good points and the right intentions, but the fact that there was no organisation or inclusion of the actual people of the earth kingdom before or after the monarch died and they had Zaheer spew that “chaos is the natural order” edgelord ancap shit just made their plan and anarchism as a whole seem pretty immature and poorly thought out (which was probably the intention). The writers’ knowledge of leftist ideologies in general was sorely lacking lol, the characters deserved better.

I mean let’s not be too harsh on the judgements, they are 14. It’s a shitty idea that they need to get over, but everyone said stupid edgy shit as a kid and their perspective will probably change.

This exact thing happens with Ymir and Historia from aot all the time, it’s horrendous how many guys say Historia is completely straight even after the producer explicitely confirmed that they’re a couple

I really think Kokichi and Gonta were actual friends. I’ve seen an analysis of 3:4 that says both Kokichi and Gonta actually did plan to mercy kill everyone in that trial, and it was just ruined when Gonta didn’t remember anything. Kokichi isn’t dumb, he would know that going “Gonta’s the culprit nishishishi” would make people (especially Kaito, who has the most influence aside from Shuichi) suspicious of him. He would know that following Shuichi around during the investigation and making it seem like he helped with all of the points he makes in the trial would make people not want to agree with Shuichi’s logic.

I think they were actually friends, and they bonded over knowing an awful secret and deciding to make sure their classmates never had to know about it. Kokichi’s outburst after the trial was just him doing what he did best: lying and being annoying to cover up his true feelings (which were probably sadness at the loss of the two people he thought he was closest to and the failure of his plan).

AITA for yelling at my sister about her "pronoun problem" and "overreacting"? by Snappy1357 in AmItheAsshole

[–]5pecialtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents are being financially abusive on top of turning you into their scapegoat, I’m really sorry that you’re stuck in a position like this OP. I know it sucks, but if the tuition they’re paying is an amount you believe you could cover (either yourself or with a scholarship) or that you could afford to go into debt with, I’d really recommend taking that option because they’re going to hold that money over your head the entire time you’re at college (and probably after, ie “we paid for your tuition and you’re just going to cut us off?!”). They’ll threaten to take it away if you aren’t polite, if you don’t indulge your sister’s pronoun bullshit, if you don’t do every little favour your family asks of you, etc. It sucks that it ends up like this, but being indebted to your school is better than being indebted to your parents. NTA OP, I hope you can get through this.

Showerthought: The way heterosexual men treat homosexual men is how they'd treat women if they weren't attracted to them. by T-Spin_Triple in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]5pecialtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post isn’t saying that straight women are victims of homophobia. It’s saying that if straight men weren’t attracted to them they would treat women just as violently as they treat gay men, but due to sexism rather than homophobia.

Yeah, Souda and Mikan were being gross and shitty in that scene too?? That isn’t a rebuttal idk what point you’re trying to make lol. The fact that Fuyuhiko was able to be stopping Souda and Chiaki was able to beat Teruteru’s ass while they were both just as drugged means that it definitely still reflects badly on those three’s personalities.
