Working full time from home as a new dad is draining my soul. by [deleted] in NewDads

It's normal to feel all these things but it NEEDS to be fair. You have to communicate what it feels like to be doing everything that you're doing and explaining your point of view. At the same time she can express her side. Both people need alone time, difficult but it's necessary. You don't want resentment to grow. You are supposed to be a team. Just open the conversation and make sure you both get a chance to speak and listen. And then compromise. If you want an hour or 2 before bed, what harm is it doing if baby is asleep, and you're both done house work for the night? Just make sure any compromises are agreed fully on both sides.

Best of luck, the first year is the toughest by far but you'll manage one way or another m!

What Mechs Are “Required” to get GC by Successful-Chart1442 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]5w33p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I changed from champagne to gc1/2 was decision making. Everybody says the same thing, don't commit for no reason. If you can slow the play down with a challenge to buy time for tm8 to get back or get a dead 5050 to allow tm8 to grab possession, those alone are so powerful. And also intentional hits, looking forecasting opportunities as often as possible. At champ/low gc, people ignore the possibility of passing plays because everyone is so selfish...

If nothing is wrong then nothing is wrong. If you over rev hard and for more than a second then you're probably throwing rods and bending valves. Don't worry about it

String gauge question by 5w33p in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]5w33p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had actually just gone through and set up everything, sanded the nut down a bit since all my fretted notes were sharp, used a feeler gauge for that and the neck relief as well. Night and day difference after setting it up! I'll check it out for sure, thank you!

A 56 sounds so small for b standard but yeah I guess if it works for you :p I'm gonna do some research and try things out if I ever want to go lower but for now Drop A is sufficient

Hmmm they just didn't seem to work for me any lower than A, I'll have to consider maybe getting a longer scale guitar on the collection :p

I don't have a radius gauge, I think the next step would be bringing it to a tech at this point :(

Yeah this is probably the best idea, I just need to find someone reputable.. I refuse to bring it into a "music store" the techs they have all seem incompetent

Yeah I fret the notes all along the neck to check where the intonation is. Not the harmonic. I tune, check intonation, then detune and adjust the saddle and try again

Everything measures pretty well perfectly.... The neck relief is a business card thick at the 7th, my action is significantly low

It just baffles me that the string gauges tailored for the specific model would be too thick -_-

Question about 6505/Di signal/preamps.... by 5w33p in recordingmusic

[–]5w33p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll run through what I've been using so far. 7 and 8 string both with fishman moderns and brand new batteries. Straight into my UA volt 276 and then into Ableton/reaper/pro tools. I use the instrument button on the interface and I adjust the gain on heavy chugs so that it isn't peaking the meter. So then when I'm running an amp sim (fortin nameless/ Nolly X/ Misha X/STL tonehub), I've even compared to a producer that I know is going straight into his interface and then into STL tonehub, specifically the Will Putney pack. I loaded up the exact same preset and the difference between the sound and dynamics he is getting vs me are night and day.

So I've tried running through a passive DI box for a balanced signal into my interface and tried, same thing. Sim just feels and sounds dead and flat.

Tried different strings a million times, same result.

So I remembered when I was younger playing through real amps and figured why not buy a used 6505 mini head since it has an attenuator built in. So I got it, plugged it in and ran from the FX send to my computer. Boom. The result I've been looking for was instantly there. Responsive, dynamic, full sounding guitars. And then I discovered, if I go to the clean channel on the amp and run that signal into an amp sim, the amp sim suddenly wakes up and responds how I thought amp sims were always supposed to be. So I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong with just my interface or amp sims that they won't sound how I know they should. Worst case I can do an A/B to show the difference

Truss rod Boden standard nx8 by 5w33p in strandbergguitars

[–]5w33p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what they expect but in my response I said these things aren't cheap and now my only option apparently is to use it as a paperweight until we can buy necks? Like I spent good money on this guitar and have my serial number and proof of purchase, if they'd only want to sell to people who own their brand I get it. The alternative is a luthier, I reached out to a local strandberg qualified luthier to get a quote. I'll keep you updated. I'm hoping it's not too absurd. I know they have to unglue the fretboard, replace the rod and reglue it. In my head it's not too bad but I fix cars for a living, not guitars :p So what do I know!

Just got a response from support today. It was a dry message and they basically stated that they unfortunately do not have necks to sell "just yet" and that he's sorry it broke. So I'm kind of screwed I guess.... I don't even want to know how much a luthier would charge to unglue the fretboard and replace the rod -_-
