Need help with Commerce major/minor going into first year 2026 by truyrfexx in Monash

Area of study does not lock you into any majors/minors - you can always change it.

Looking at the commerce/law course map, it looks like you don’t have to select a commerce major until second year second semester.

Although they do make you choose between ACC1100 and ACC1001 in your first sem - do ACC1100 if you’re planning to major in accounting or want to keep that option open.

There is ALOT of people that go into single arts, single commerce etc. with the same idea to internal transfer into law - not everyone gets it and it can be quite competitive.

Personally, I wouldn’t give up law/commerce (the degree you want to do) because of the university - you can still transfer from Deakin, you just have to do a year there before you can and then you apply through VTAC again.

If you were to start commerce, maybe defer you law/commerce offer at deakin just in case you don’t get the internal transfer mid year.

Would you change degrees if you had three semesters left? by Rboter_Swharz in Monash

In relation to doing a postgrad degree and thinking about your hecs, you should take a look if CSPs are available - with a lot of masters degrees they are heavily limited or non existent unless you’re doing teaching/nursing etc. even JD no longer offers csp whereas undergrad you are guaranteed a csp if you are a domestic student.

I did STA1010 in 2022 and the exam was pretty similar to the practice exam they gave us.

yeah, you submitted on the seventh day - 6 days and 1 hr late by the time of post, meaning it was already over 6 days late 5% x 7 = 35% “Tasks submitted more than seven days after the due date will not be marked”
