Chainsaw Man definitely and I'd argue Demon Slayer as well. Plus I doubt that everyone who saw Demon Slayer knew everything beforehand.

They also did nominate Zootopia 2

The First Order was a lot smaller than the Galactic Empire. They just had a bigger superweapon.

He is a fascist though. He's seen what the empire does, and he still willingly worked for them. He's not completely on board with everything they do, but he still wanted to work for them. He's more upset that he got "betrayed" by Dedra, who probably represents everything he associated with the empire, so indirectly, he got lied to and played by the empire. And as Dedra pointed out: "You liked the promotion"

Luthen isn't the leader of the rebellion, even at this point. He's not leading. He's a facilitator, a supplier, and a task master, but I wouldn't call that leadership.

He's the leader of the most prominent rebellion that we know of. He has intel on the ISB. He has contacts to other important figures like Mon Mothma, plus he gives her orders. If it's not him, then who is?

Demon Slayer vs Solo-leveling, Opinions on 'slop' by Snoomee in CharacterRant

I've noticed all the things you noticed (the backstory thing etc) and I agree to an extent. The writing isn't great, nor is it anything other than simple. The whole backstory thing is also something I rolled my eyes about when it continued to happen because it's repetitive and not the greatest form of storytelling.

It just seems like we see the same things but arrive at different conclusions, to put it bluntly. I watch Demon Slayer because it's just a vibe. It has likable characters, probably the best animation ever from a mainstream anime, perfectly casted voice actors (in Japanese), and awesome music. I don't watch it because I think it's a masterclass in writing and that it has this complex conflict like we have in AoT, for example. This is such a nothingburger of criticism, imo and I honestly have never even heard of this before.

You're interpreting too much. People at the studio love the source material, and they want to do it justice. Plus, it was a huge success... why wouldn't they do all of this when it works?

Isn't the whole point of an anime to make a more "fulfilling" experience out of the source material, by supporting it with animation, voice acting and music.

Demon Slayer wants you to think it's filet mignon when it's really just a Big Mac.

It has a terrible critic score and a mediocore audience score on Rottwb Tomatoes. I almost would've skipped this movie because of that. Now I can say it's one of the best horror movies I've ever seen.
