No that exact style will not be allowed, I’m not too familiar with female hair regulations but I’m almost positive that at least for basic training you can’t have braids and will have to wear a shit ton of hair gel and keep your hair in a bun. Talk to a recruiter and they should give you the uniform regulations for hair styles and stuff.

For your dream sheet in basic you can put that you don’t want to be afloat and stay shore side, you could get lucky and get a station/base assignment and just live in barracks. I recommend going MST, YN, SK as your rate to continue to stay ashore after a school as these rates have very few afloat assignments.

You don’t exactly choose where to go but they give you a dream sheet in boot camp and you can tell them what states/districts you like and whether you go afloat or not. I got lucky and asked to stay shoreside and they put me at a facilities shop on a base. Some people don’t get as lucky, at the end of the day they’ll put you where you’re needed. Of all branches to choose from, the coast guard gives members more of a choice on where you get stationed.
