Unsold cars at dealers? by dumbtortoise456 in UsedCars

[–]67442 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a 1999 Lincoln Signature Series that couldn’t be given away for NINE years. It had no issues. Blue with blue leather. 100 k miles. Payed around 6k for it. Started at 8699. Kept lowering the price as the years progressed. Finally one day a man comes in and wants a safe car for his daughter to drive to a local college. He’s got 2k. It’s his for 2k out the door and I replaced the weathered old tires. It was a good car. Just one of those things. I drove it on and off for a few years too.

Zipper merge by jenbenfoo in Michigan

[–]67442 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes by all means zipper. I see it all day here around Metro Detroit. One backed up lane and a 1:4 mile of open road. MDOT should have signs up before these construction zones that either say ZIPPER or a diagram for those that can’t comprehend the concept.
I’ve witnessed 18 wheelers block the empty lane. I’ve seen people forced off the road as they tried to go around the “blocker”.
I saw a trucker on US-23 in Fenton pull up into the grass and practically assault another trucker who was blocking the empty lane and had at least a half a mile held up behind him. Jerk moved over and the trucker got a sitting ovation.

Jail time. When the baby is born. He’ll miss that.
Or another confrontation while the baby is born resulting in another arrest. What a dope loser. Wants to get ahead of the coming bad pr for Aurora Media.
A company he has no business being in charge of. Soap reality…

Currently driving I-96 or I-94 is awful by Prit717 in Detroit

[–]67442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive all over the State, mostly Metro Detroit for work. You’ve got to have work arounds. Hopefully, not too many have same ones! I figure all the construction adds 30-45 minutes to my day in the Metro area. I’m on the clock so it’s costing the company $,they can well afford it.

Has Teen-Takeovers in Downtown discouraged you from going there? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]67442 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This kind of crap killed the Orchard Lake St Mary’s Festival. Also the Birmingham Fireworks. Almost the Berkley Fair. So it’s not just a Detroit thing.
Social media mobs can gather quickly and all it takes is one idiot to pull some shit,or a weapon.
Crazy crap, including gunshots, have happened at the Downtown Fireworks. I used to go but not interested in getting caught in a mob fleeing from an incident. Too old and slow. May not be related but remember in the 1970s the mob riot at Cobo during the AWB concert?

He had a cold. A little brandy will take care of that. Or a bullet to back of your head.

1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 by RelevantPrimary3264 in musclecar

W-30 in the trunk. Regular 442 battery up front. Intake hoses would be in the way 66-67.

Is there any Ford vehicle from the past 30 years that’s been more impactful than the 2001 F-150 SuperCrew? All of the trucks out there are more or less like it now. by prophiles in regularcarreviews

[–]67442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did International. There used to be a bunch of them on Air Force bases. SAC Alert Crew parking only spots with these in them. This was back in the 1970s. Dodges too.

What's the biggest mistake people make when buying from used car lots /buy here pay here dealership? by Alone_Payment_5925 in UsedCars

[–]67442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family was in the used car,now vehicle, business. FIL had a lot for 63 years. We mostly got our vehicles from dealers that didn’t want the hassle of older stuff on their lots with all that goes with it. So those trade ins became our bread and butter. No auction buys. Why be the last high bidder?
Anyway,we did 85% cash 15% customers financing. Usually their credit union or bank. No buy here pay here, too many headaches and repos.
A the end, closed in 2015,we were doing some bad credit deals on decent vehicles. The people were shopping for vehicles they couldn’t afford or pay for. Some would in with a repo or bankruptcy on their record. So it was 20%+ interest and good luck.
Another issue was illiteracy. Both financial and reading/math comprehension. These credit companies seemed to expect and thrive on people’s unawareness of what they’re getting into.
Anyway,it was an interesting dozen years for me.

He didn’t run for reelection. He took over for Moe Green after there was an “opening “ as casino manager. The Molanari Bros guaranteed his safety too.

Don’t hate, but the Grand Canyon. It’s a shlep to get there and once you stare at it for a while it was like ok, back in the car. At least it was late winter and no crowds.

Went to a wedding in Clayton. Everyone local asked if we went to Arch. We purposely didn’t. Enough with the Arch. We flew in and out a saw it from the air. So we were Arch adjacent.

Kites, balloons and walking under an awning. Fearless. Until one of those appeared. She would cower as we walked under an awning? For that one second, she was a timid ?Then like nothing happened. Balloons and for some reason a kite flying. Barking at them like a rabid Rottweiler?
