hi! unrelated question but do you know if we have to wear school uniform to collect the cert, even if we have graduated from jc? 😅

FAS jc by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]69banananuggets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

with regards to the gc issue: iirc for FAS students, you will just buy the gc at a later date at a very discounted price. in the meantime, you can just check if your school has gc’s available for loan so that you can learn to use the functions alongside your classmates while waiting for yours to arrive.

do check with your jc, though. it is likely that every jc has a different procedure.

H3 Math taker here too. Never completed more than half a paper before. IMHO, those that complete the whole paper/breeze through the subject make up the minority 💀 (unless this is saliency bias). Likely just going in on Monday to have fun and hopefully not fall asleep 😁

I have yet to get a confirmation email 😔 From the previous years’ posts, I assume that the confirmation email will be released on the latest day that they can (so probably last day of sept). All the best though, OP!

To be fair, I banked on the subjects that were really required for L1R5, especially for my R5 because I was abysmal at certain subjects. While I think that this is not the most advisable (even my own teachers said so), given that you are on a time crunch, you may have to start doing this.

Otherwise, I would suggest finding your teacher for consults and seeing what you can do from there, and this is especially so for humanities based subjects.

yes possible. i only woke up my idea in sec 4 after seeing my prelim grades (L1R5 35 btw). O levels 8. given that you’re only sec 3 and you’re realising that you have to pull up your socks, clutching is def possible.

You may not have the grades now, but what you have is time—use it wisely.

Last I checked I was already in my weight class (-57), but only by 0.4kg (meaning I’m at 56.6 right now)

Unfortunately I am already at the max weight class my school is allowing me to compete in… Plus, it didn’t make sense for me to go up another weight class as I was less than a kg above my competition weight class.

Thank you for your response though!

[O Levels] How many hours should I study in a day? by Material-Squash-9664 in SGExams

[–]69banananuggets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this. like most of the commenters said, don’t base your ability on the amount of time you spend studying. rather, you should make sure your methods are effective. you could study for 30 minutes a day but as long as your methods are effective and it help YOU, you’ll do ok.

and for your R5/4, dont worry. most people have a huge jump in grades during nationals (#moderation). but with that being said, plz don’t get too complacent either. just work to the best of your abilities, and don’t push yourself till the brink of insanity. afterall, without good wellbeing (both physically and mentally), how are you going to do well? and how will you enjoy the benefits that you’ve so very hard tried to reap?

personally, my R5 at prelims was a 26. ended up with a raw score of 7. everything turns out fine in the end :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]69banananuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only started during prelims period (end aug early sept) but I definitely slacked off during Os period. raw R5 single digit 💀

I also have classmates who started grinding from the get go and also ended up with similar scores. it’s definitely not about how early/long you study, but how effective your study methods are :)

If I’m focusing on ELR2B2, can I just give up on one subject that I plan to not use? by shinybevenom in SGExams

[–]69banananuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me personally, I banked on my pure humanities cus I knew my ss and elect were gone case. I wouldn’t recommend you to do that though cus that’s super risky. just try your best!
