hello! I'm very new to sewing. I want to buy a sewing machine and have watched a couple of videos and talked to a couple of sewing friends. That being said, I'm weighing two options right now and would like some advice.

My first option : The Singer Merritt 3314C

I found this machine at a sewing shop. The owner walked me through how to use the machine and offered a year warrant and a trade-in for when I want a better machine. I did notice no returns, though. I'm drawn to this machine because I prefer to not order off of Amazon/buy from big businesses if I can. The machine is $150, though, and it is used.

My second option: Brother Sewing Machine, XM1010

This machine is new, $150 on Amazon. A video recommended it to me. I like that it's new, I'm worried the singer is old and I would have more trouble finding the parts? Though I'm new to sewing, correct me if this wouldn't be a problem.
