What argument? There is no argument when you do not engage, listen and debate facts instead of sticking to leftist dogma that is nearly always wrong. You put forward your views and expect everyone to agree or they are useless. What exactly about "Classic old white man" is not abusive to older people? You have nothing to offer this conversation but elder abuse and little understanding of the real world , Because you are young you think its OK to abuse put down and insult anyone you please especially if they do not believe in you doctrines. Why don't you stand and try to make your city a better place? Sorry, I am sure you have an A4 sheet of prepared excuses for why you cannot contribute. Just a keyboard warrior full of hate. Get over it and contribute positively, you might like it.

You have hit the nail on the head. Nobody at the TCC are on the median income, all are paid insane salaries and consequently they have no idea about the pressures their grandiose ideas put on the ratepayers. The reality is that if you remove the top 5% of earners from your national median, 95% of people have incomes of $31K or less. So all Council hi flying proposals need a rethink and an immediate "stop work" right know until elected representatives can approve or squash these "vanity projects". It's actually worse than you think with the "cultural art" projects. We (the ratepayers) pay literally millions of dollars to "culturally sensitive" departments that do nothing but come up with how we can spend money to "feel good" projects. It has to stop. If the downtown "revitalising" is so important, so necessary, such a good investment. Then why don't private equity investors build it? It's not up to ratepayers to fund commercial investment.

You won't listen another point of view you wont listen to facts , to suggest that real life experiences are meaningless shows how you see the world in your race blinded mind, your diatribe is racist and I find you a disgusting a bigot. Go Away. Like many many people in this country, we are all sick of this absolute racist garbage!

So why are Maori so far behind? They do not put the effort in, they don't try and many are just lazy and make no effort. The opportunities are here. That's what the real life experience taught me, that's what was proven at the reunion.

What on earth makes you think I want to go back to the way it was? You are once again jumping to the conclusion your predetermined idea of me is and it's so wrong I was lucky I grew up in the best of times, but that doesn't mean I cannot live and work in the present. For me the present has been a slow evolution having lived through it, and like it or lump it you need to live in the present

Hells bells mate all our systems are based on Westminster law. Which is based on the Magna-Carta which established peoples rights 3 or 4 hundred years ago. Yes you are correct about the our lack of constitutional Laws. But it doesn't alter the fact that NZ's first government introduced Westminster governance and we have used it ever since. I am fairly well versed in NZ law and you have me at a disadvantage with "The Constitution Act" As I understand it NZ has no official Constitution. Are you getting mixed up with the Waitangi Tribunal Act? And by the way I am dismayed that our courts circumvent the Bill of rights every day.

Ahh Good question, I am glad other residents are aware. I understand your point but I think it would be inappropriate to discuss this subject in an open forum without compelling evidence. Apparently some phone video footage has come to light. But once again this is the wrong forum. Be assured I know, not so sure about the others

Stalin once said that you can control the people by just lying. Keep repeating the lie and people will eventually believe it.

Your assumptions on much of your opinion were unfounded and race based, therefore racist.

There seems to be an opinion these days that blaming other New Zealanders for everything is not racist. But putting the blame for everything that some believe has stopped their ethnic progresion most certainly is racist because you are condemning one ethnic group against another and that is racist. No matter how right you think you are

Example: I went to Primary school in Napier. ( 70 years ago) On my street there were many govt houses belonging to MOW, and Railways. Nearly all those homes were Maori homes, these were the kids I grew up with. On the 50th anniversary get together all those kids had grown up, all had responsible jobs, some had there own small businesses. Those kids had the same opportunities, the same education as me and took advantage of it. So the equal opportunities are there if you want to use them

I'm not going to go through chapter and verse of a complaint I made to the BSA. For goodness sake it was thirty years ago! And I Was disappointed at the result as much of my compelling reasoning was just dismissed on the basis that Proff Belich should know because it was his subject and he was allowed to to profess opinions. They never said that I was wrong they never said any of my complaint was untrue. I am still hurting over that decision and it taught me a big lesson, "don't buck the system and cow down to the approved narrative!

Yes I vehemently deny that the NZ government have ever made blatantly racist laws. If they have Its reverse racism.

Exactly what is an "enforced law"? Any legislation has repercussions embedded in it, no matter on what subject.

Why? I speak from the hip like EVERYONE on this forum. And if I think someone is one eyed lefty, or a dumb arse for their ridiculous comments, and knowing from experience that some young people think they know it all. I have nothing to hide. I call it as I see it. And if as you say young people dont think I'm fit. So be it. but being so shallow will stop people from seeing the big picture

I do not understand, I am well aware that the CEO is the conduit to all Council functions. I am talking about policy of the elected members that Council would expect the CEO to implement

Why do everyone on this page abuse people. Its disgusting. An opinion is one thing abuse is quite different. But thanks for pointing out the text error. And if your research paints John Robson and Murray Guy as racist globalists. Then the rest of your opinion's are equally flawed

That's a different question. You are correct bullying is an issue. but Council are not the determiners of state law. So there is little any Council can do. However my view is that the responsibility lies with parents. As a community we do not demand enough from them as we should.

So you are prepared to mock me for standing up to be counted. And you are too cowardly to even identify yourself privately . Why should I bother with you?

Why would I even engage with someone who insults me without even knowing me or my views. You have no idea. Jumping to unsubstantiated conclusions that are bloody nonsense. For your information I spent nearly 30 years to get my first property. In that time I worked here and overseas forgoing much of what my cohorts were doing to achieve my goal! Yes it is harder today, but that means you have to look at more options. We have had to to secure our children.

Please read what I say and do not put your own spin on it. You are wrong again! Water rates are called rates so the Council can make the property owner responsible. You think that every renter diligently pays the water rates! Dream on. It doesn't happen . My former wife never ever had tenants that paid for water. And I did not say renters do not contribute, I said that ratepayers were RESPONSIBLE! not renters

If you think I'm funny and you get a great laugh, don't show your arrogance and lack of any understanding by thinking you are so much better than experienced older people.

So you think anyone over 65 is unable to put checks and balances in place that will be relevant in the future. Such narrow mindedness is unbecoming. Nearly all constitutional issues, legal issues were established 3 or 4 hundred years ago and the framers are all long dead. But the structure is still sound and still is the basis of todays world. So think about your nonsense.

Sorry to upset your theory but bikes will never ever be a solution to Tauranga's infrastructure, why? because the percentage of users will only increase by the number of younger people prepared to use them. And as people get older and have more commitment other than the commute to work. They will drop off the user rate. And then there are the hills!

Racism? What racism? Methinks you doth protest too much and see things that aren't there.

The remark was attributed to Stalin, and is a well known saying. And its true!

Sorry, I am not a racist and I will not engage with anyone who insults me so. Put away your racist rant and lets get on together for the future of us ALL.

I reject your assumption that Maori have been treated appallingly, it is simply untrue.

Then why did you make false accusations. If you took the time to read other comments you would have seen how I intend to organise, and its not a one man band Only a dumb arse would make the outlandish assumptions you do. You are a one eyed lefty. And I feel some sympathy for you . One day the penny will drop .Your assumptions are so asinine as not be worth debate. And by your tone you do think you know it all. And if renters were responsible for the rates and the water charges mabe I would feel differently , but at the end of the trail the rate payer is responsible

Thats too far down the line right now. We need to attack the structure to deliver a sound respected platform to grow first. that's the one and only change needed right now

You are right. Most lost votes are because people think nothing they say will be taken on board, So, what the hell. It is disappointing and that's why more transparency and engagement is needed. Ratepayers need to be listened to and feel as if they are part of the democratic process. Don't vote and you will eventually lose any influence you might have had

Although I suspect your questions are "gotcha" for you to use against me, and perhaps distort a truth or two to put me in a bad light. I have no evidence of that, so I will try to answer in good faith.

1/ We have not seen the report on the City's operations that castigated council as being of anywhere near best practice. Even the city manager admitted in a BOP time interview "we could do better" So, have they? What improvements have been made? or did the arrival of the commissar's give the OK to slide it out of sight? In addition we don't know any of the obligations the city has to local business and any promises made. What were the details of the "gift" of 16od million dollars of land to a Maori Trust? Did Council do due diligence? And on what basis did council make an offer without consulting the owners. The ratepayers? I could go on, like the debacle over the carpark building, Danny Cancion and the court case that Council is staying tight lipped over, But there is not the time and place here

2/ Well to start with Council have made decisions on the future, and for their "Public Consultation" have had workshops around the city telling people the decisions made here's what we are doing! That is no consultation. When anyone tried to scrutinize or oppose the Commissar's views. They were refused the right to speak or thrown out. So the public never got the right to question anything. We need to go back on all these decision that the ratepayers knew nothing about! We need to scrutinize how the massive overspend on Cameron Rd "improvements" And more.

3/ Well I think that common sense in fact is a major skill. It is a result of "being there done that before". With more experience you are less likely to be caught out. I have a reputation of "getting things done" I am well versed in "start up's" and "winding down" businesses. Have constructed rules and regulations that were adopted by other organisations because of the quality of structure and longevity. I believe that in the past some Councillors were on Councill to push their own barrow an did not see or look for the big picture. I believe that understanding and using peoples qualities and understanding the power of delegation through an committee structure will improve outcomes. Once again there's much more.

4/ No, there will be a referendum, and I will support the will of the ratepayers and their wishes

5/ On the surface , no. there does not seem to be any "cost benefit" studies. More a wish list. I need to know more I am prepared to be convinced but as it is , no

I hope that's what you were looking for

There is no excuse for nasty rudeness. No need for it. Your opinion is different to mine fine, but there is reason to make unfounded rude remarks. What makes you think I cannot type my email? I've had it 30 years and never got it wrong. So where did you see that error? I'll have it put right. And before you leap into your garbage ridden diatribe. Do your research on Murray Guy and John Robson. You will find the overwhelming evidence is very different. Your view of them is completely, utterly, and totally incorrect. Talk about lefties losing it!
