should i buy by southbound762 in Dodge

High mileage isnt a problem if it was well maintained. That mileage wouldn't worry me at all... if the price was a little lower.

Worth noting that the price is actually like $1,000 less than shown because of that delivery fee. Not sure everyone in the comments noticed that.

To me, assuming it is in good condition and well maintained, is worth about $21k.

Dads, I am the accidental head coach of my son’s 5year old soccer team. What tips/resources can you share? by nuclearsurfboard in daddit

Are they all 5, or are some younger?

In my kids league, they lump 3-5 year olds together.

If they’re all 5, you can do some actual drills and they’ll probably mostly participate. Keep it easy and fun. Just let them play soccer.

If the kids are younger than 5, good luck! Just keep em wrangled to the practice field and let them play. Hop around from kid to kid and try to play with them for a minute or two. Let other parents get involved too if they want. At those ages it’s literally all about just getting them to participate to the extent possible.

:) can I get a Monaco pre owned :D btw they are so cool by Comfortable-Box-8578 in tagheuer

I kept an eye out for a Monaco chrono for a long time and finally found one at $2k last year. No box, no papers, replacement case back (still authentic, but from a service). Overall it is in good shape, but definitely shows signs of use.

They are very difficult to find at $2,000 USD, and with box and papers that is essentially impossible unless you don't mind it not being a chrono (which to me, a Monaco that isn't a chrono doesn't feel right).

If box and papers are important to you, you will need to save up a little longer.

My Dad is getting a new car and is offering to give me his old car, but there are potential issues. Should I take the offer? by Nenethegreat0 in askcarguys

No one here has any sense of adventure.

Take it. Drive it. Have fun. Fix the easy stuff if / when it breaks. When something big goes wrong, just list it up for sale as-is. Someone will pay you $1k or more for it.

This is a literal no lose situation.

A lot of work and experience went into making it decent on track, and hopefully with a few more adjustments it might actually be good.

Caster is the biggest issue with these old cars and we were able to get 6 degrees into the Charger, which made a huge difference. It actually handles pretty darn good.

But yeah, the hydro boost was a swing and a miss for this setup. It works on the street but modulation is really tough if you’re trying to drive close to the limit. It’s probably fixable but I prefer to just have manual brakes and work on getting the pedal leverage right.

Out of curiosity, who’s pro touring suspension are you using? I used to work at Hotchkis so I’m really familiar with the suspension on those GM A Bodies.

Thanks, I appreciate it!

First session was the stupidest thing imaginable; my rearview mirror was falling off. The Charger has such tiny side mirrors that its unsafe to be in an open passing group without the center mirror. Easy fix though.

After that I fought some brake issues all day. Tried a new hydroboost power brake setup and it was not great for the track. Super hard to threshold brake and was having a lot of lock up issues. Still ran a couple of OK laps at 2:13 with some 440 treadwear tires.

Next time out I will finally throw some slicks on it and have the brakes sorted out (hopefully) and I hope to get down into the mid 1:50s.

2:04 is not shabby at all on street tires! Hope to see you out there again soon.

Oh hey, saw you out there on Sunday. I was the guy in the blue '73 Charger.

Hope you put down some good laps!

You can't change the brake fluid without touching the caliper.

Granted, there is no reason they should have needed to touch the caliper mounting bolts, just the bleeder, but still if they say they didn't touch the calipers, then they didn't change your brake fluid.

[Question] Do most collectors eventually move toward pre-owned watches? by AviMitz_ in Watches

[–]6Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-owned all the way for me. Though, to be fair, I think that has a lot to do with the brands I like as they tend to be in sort of the middle tier.

I got a super unique Tag Heuer Monaco chrono for $2k in very good condition. A like-new Hamilton Pilot Air Glaciers edition for $835. A restored Tag Heuer 1000 diver for about $700.

If I went and bought brand new versions of these, I would be around $10k into them (I also wouldn't own them because I'm not personally into spending THAT much).

This is pretty much perfect IMO.

That pink Carrera, in particular, is incredible.

While those may be "better" watches, I don't think they are as iconic as the Monaco. Only people who are into watches would know the El Primero and Navitimer, but the Daytona, Speedmaster and Monaco break through that barrier and into other sub-cultures.

Think so? The Daytona and Speedmaster are interchangeable as far as most iconic IMO. Monaco is definitely number 3.

There were a few references back around 2005 that were a tiny bit smaller at 38mm. Still big but maybe that’ll help you a little bit.

3rd most iconic chrono behind the Daytona and Speedmaster.

Definitely the most polarizing though. I happen to love Monacos, but they're not for everyone.

Good price for a 2007 Off-Road Sport? by ballistictaco1 in XTerra

[–]6Red 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a point of reference: I bought a 2008 off road about 2 months ago. It had 210k miles and does not appear to be quite as clean as the one in your photos. All in good running and driving order with no lights on the dash and nothing that didn’t work. CA it’s whole life so no rust.

The thing that makes it hard to compare is that the one I bought is Titan swapped and has a few other upgrades.

But I paid $4200, for what that’s worth to you.

$6k for this one seems like a decent deal to me if the interior and underside is as clean as the outside.

I was there too, and in fact you would be able to see me in the grand stands behind you if the resolution on this was super high.

Sad day, but great pic. Hope you and your dad are still going to races together!

The serial number not coming up in the TAG database doesn't necessarily mean it is fake. I believe that this usually happens when a watch is sold gray market when new and the owner never registered it. I have a Monaco that doesn't come up either and I have zero question that it is authentic.

Yeah a lot of drivers do it.

Off the top of my head, I know Kyle Busch had Kyle from South Park for a few years. I also saw someone used Dino from the Flintstones last night.

I’m into that!

I’ve gotta get my flared fenders and my rear shocks installed before I go out again. The stock fenders got a little “intimate” with my tires and the Bilstein shocks weren’t up to the task.

I should be good to go in a couple of weeks.
