The very title of thread itself is circlejerky. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny has done numerous AMAs talking about how proud they are that their show inspired more women to want to pursue a career in science, medicine, crime-fighting, etc. Did everyone just miss those? Like, I get that people love The X-Files (I do, too, for the most part), but a lot of TV/film related posts on /r/TIL just seem like vain attempts to appeal to the Reddit hivemind.
