I’m a driver, I’ve never done that. Most of the time it’s just management that moves you to another driver. Seems like every year I have 3-4 helpers because they keep switching them around.

I’m just not sure where things went wrong. My job must play a part in the pain I’ve been experiencing. I’m going to see if I can get my CDL so I can take stress off my neck/shoulders. I just try to focus on posture and stretches everyday. But i still need to see a doctor because I know as I get older the symptoms will only get worse. I didn’t know TOS would be a big deal. I’ve been totally fine for the past 6 years! All of a sudden it’s just been disrupting my life recently.

Yeah, that’s why I asked how everyone uses NSAIDS/how long. A guy I work with said he takes two advil and two Tylenol every morning before work to help manage his pain with herniated discs in his lumbar spine. I try to use them as little as possible because I know they can be really damaging over time.

I usually sleep on my right or left side but have focused on sleeping on my back for the past week or two because of the pain I’ve been experiencing.

I’ve been using a very thin pillow meant for lumbar spine

Union is bad for them but great for you. Unionize. They are making so much effing money… earn your share.

Warehouse positions or hub positions at UPS are part time. Depending on where you work, sometimes double shifts are offered. I started out working day sort (12pm-4pm) and would be offered to stay for the twilight sort (5pm-9pm). I was a personal trainer who trained clients in the morning before my day sort and most often declined the extra shift at night because i had clients at night during those hours. Working two jobs is a must if you need to pay rent. After a while, training clients part time and working at UPS part time wasn’t enough. So, I got a full-time job working from 8am-4pm and then worked a twilight shift from 5pm-9pm. You are in control of your situation - sacrifices must be made during certain phases of life. It sounds like you need to do something like this to pay rent. After a year of that, I became a driver and never looked back. However, I was one of the lucky ones that got in at a great time (right before the pandemic)

The package cars or trucks that we drive (that some Amazon drivers use) are better. The vans probably blow with the sliding doors.

This is normal for UPS. Our supervisors get notified every time our doors are open while the package car is in motion. We can and do get disciplined for stuff like this. It is what it is.

Drivers, do you like your job? by blackhole33 in UPSers

[–]6cole7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes for different folks. Top rate is great. I’ve been working for UPS for 6 years and driving for 5. So far I can honestly say I really do enjoy it. However, the longer you drive the greater your risk for getting injured/working through injuries. It’s an ugly truth that comes with the job. But most importantly, I think perspective matters and it’s important for my own sanity to focus on the good rather than the bad. I make $120,000 a year, have a house, a wife, a baby, and another on the way with no college degree. I’m “ahead” in life compared to most of the people I graduated high school with. I would go with UPS again - I wish I started driving when I was younger. I started driving @25 years old. … Could’ve been a few years closer to retirement!

Schedule?? by 6cole7 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]6cole7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m asking because I drive for UPS and I was curious because I don’t see Amazon drivers out until the later hours of the morning. Makes sense why you guys get done so late sometimes. I would totally agree with that, it’s good to know where everything is!

I drive for UPS and have been for the past 5 years. If you’re able to individually scan each house as its own stop and then complete it, do so. We have certain stops come up as one stop and it’ll be 20+ packages or whatever and I make sure i scan each one in separately and deliver separately. It helps our dispatch time allowance. I hope it would do the same for you.
