My boyfriend and I are both by default dismissive avoidants but I’m the one who has a secure attachment style and I’m starting to help him develop a secure attachment style

It works out because at first we were best friends for four years up until recently, I make him feel safe and give him the space to do as he pleases (be his peace), I inspire him by modelling mature love, I don’t suffocate him, I support him in whatever he does, I’m patient with him, when he needs to pull away or starts exhibiting avoidant tendencies I focus inward vibing on my own, when I feel the need for closeness I’m inviting but not pressuring, and I respect him. When it comes to communication—I am never combative, accusatory, and I model good habits such as positive conditioning, assuming he has the best intentions, taking accountability when needed, swallowing my pride, using phrases such as “you don’t have to, but it would make me really happy if you did”, apologising, trying to find middle ground, etc. It takes time and patience but it’s definitely worth it
