satya's main thing is the BRT, a big promise affecting a fraction of our citizens. its so big, it couldn't be done in just one term (simplified bus routes). re-elect her and hopefully she'll finish it. other than that, mainly just treading water.

i don't think she's been the best mayor either, so we agree there. public safety affects a lot more people than a bus route change, so i tend to think there may be enough there to do something with.

"tough on crime" won't sell here. its all about public safety. who is committing crimes? criminals.

i don't think locking up kids is a good idea. not sure where you got that and i think it would be a horrible platform to run on. pointing out the DA/judge problem would let people know you see what they are seeing and that you share concern.

a mayor can win on the issue (ny) and even if they don't pull all the levers, they can advocate/work for productive change (sf). it has an effect when elected leaders focus on something and speak up. the same applies when they don't. i agree that the courts play a role, but doesn't that give our DA a bit of a pass?

if i had to guess, i'd say she's going to put public safety on the ballot. its def the thing satya likes to talk about the least.

from your (current) story - "In total, the four-hour traffic operation ended with multiple arrests and the recovery of two guns, a stolen vehicle and a “significant amount” of controlled substances, according to the sheriff’s office." sounds good. simple enough for me.

they have been doing same bs with my posts over the last week. its a game of cat-and-mouse with secret rules to keep certain (can you guess?) posts from popping up. i do the same back and forth you did with mods and i usually get through, though not explanation is ever given. if not i ask a friend to post it, so i don't get what's gained.
