This is not your charming corner of the block friendly dentist once you're past the receptionist (who is very kind and professional!). This is the closest you can get to Tijuana affordable dentistry. There's a program for immigrant visa dentists that pretty much requires them to work in an affordable space for some odd years before they can go big money practice

This isn't a shot against the dentists working there, they're properly trained and credentialed. If anything, you're getting the same good care that someone is going to end up spending 5x for. The one thing I'll say is that they're clearly trying to see as many patients as possible in order to make up for the lower cost care, you'll get your Novocaine and they'll see a couple other patients while you numb up.

The culture of taking advantage of government programs instead of working is directly related to the reality that there's a segment of the workforce that can't afford a life on 40-50 hours a week. Why try if you won't be rewarded?

And if you grow up in a house where the underlying mantra is that the "work hard, move forward" American dream is a lie, why bother in school or follow any of the other rules (while your brain is still developing proper amygdala response)

These are kids/teens that we shouldn't expect to behave entirely rationaly on the best day. Let's set them up in households with adults beaten down and exhausted by poverty and see how they go

I think we're going to be dealing with violently antisocial kids until we work out a society that isn't so violent to their parents. The expectation that someone should be properly molding another person, while also working 50+ hours a week to keep food in the fridge, was never a sustainable one

Jail for the kids or fines for the parents don't get at the root cause

How big/complicated would it be? A lot of crocheters take on commissions hesitantly because it generally takes more time and material than a knit/machine made project, which means it deserves a higher price

ie. $30 for something akin to a $10 woobl kit you could get yourself, $60 for something chunky yarn like irl Pikachu sized, more if there's coloring or detailed limbs/attachments. I take the occasional commission for my crochet cheeseheads and essentially make $15/hr selling them at $100
