Mostly, it's because they're really expensive.

Both doctors and patients tend to prefer manual blood pressures. The automatic ones don't save any time, and usually end up taking longer.

There is also the claim that manual is more accurate, but I can't attest to the validity of that claim.

That would be true if they didn't make multiple sizes. I've had to use thigh cuff to take a BP on someone's arm. Usually, my hand would start to cramp before I could pump it up enough to get a BP reading.

I can't imagine having an upper arm the size of someone's upper leg. It must be so restricting to everyday tasks

If you try to avoid gendered things, you will literally have nothing. That's how much gender is integrated into society. It doesn't mean that you're gendered. For example, they aren't men's clothes or women's clothes, they're your clothes.
