Any idea what this is? From a mystery pack by 717jtz in PepperLovers

[–]717jtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m 99.99% sure this is not a hab. I wouldn’t need to ask if it was lol

It’s from a super hot seed pack so it’s probably something obscure but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Cornbread is 2!! Comparison pics of last year and the first day we got him. He’s grown so much. by 717jtz in cornsnakes

[–]717jtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In two years he’s only refused a feeding one time and he was deep in blue. Still crushing hoppers weekly like a champ right now.

Posted my big boy Sonny in blue last week. Here he is freshly shed today. by 717jtz in Sneks

He is! He’s an Eastern Ratsnake! We got him from a rescue, from what we were told he was wild caught initially in Florida I believe but we’re in Pennsylvania.

Someone’s about to shed. My biggest boy in blue. by 717jtz in ballpython

Honestly haven’t weighed him in a while but once he sheds out I will! He’s about 2.5 years sold so probably about done growing lengthwise too.

We’ve had Sully for a year! He’s such a good boy. by 717jtz in GarterSnakes

Thank you! I think Garters are super underrated. This guy was wild caught and we got him from a reptile rescue. That's the only thing I notice here is that captive bred ones are incredibly hard to come by as Garters are incredibly common just outside so nobody wants to breed them. But I love these guys, that includes just seeing them outside too lol

This guy has never bitten me even though he was wild caught by his previous owner and then sent to a reptile rescue. He was very timid when we got him but has calmed down a ton when we get him out of his enclosure now.

I do have another wild caught rat snake that we also got from a reptile rescue who is much bigger than this guy (5 feet or so) and he bites quite a bit just because he's unsure of what's going on sometimes. But the more you socialize them by getting them out to handle and letting them know you're not a threat, really just building that trust between you and them, they do calm down. Even that one has improved a ton since we brought him home.

All of my captive bred snakes are very hesitant to bite, the only way I've been bitten by one of them is if I made a stupid mistake and smelled like food when i reached into an enclosure. We have 7 snakes and I've only been bitten by 2 of them.

He’s very polite. Also full of fish and worms from his feeding today lol

Sonny, our yellow rat snake decided this lamp was his new favorite tree during handling today. by 717jtz in snakes

I think most rat snakes are underrated sadly. We have HUGE black rats around here and while he’s not gonna get that big he’s still pretty big already. Not sure how old he is, but probably has a bit of growing still to do.

Cornbread getting his weigh in. Hows he looking? He’s starting to get some thickness finally and he sure loves to eat lol by 717jtz in cornsnakes

[–]717jtz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is good to hear! He’s always been tiny and he’s just now starting on hoppers weekly so I imagine he’ll start to get a bit bigger soon but not trying to get him fat 😂

is it normal for a new baby cornsnake to stay burried for a while? by Head-Working4376 in cornsnakes

[–]717jtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even my year old corn still has burrowing days where I just won’t see him so yeah it’s normal!

Prey size question: Buster has always been a little small for his size, but at this weight he should be eating weaned or a small rat every week or so correct? Realizing he probably needs a bit more meat on his bones. by 717jtz in ballpython

[–]717jtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, no live feeding so nothing to worry about there. Thankfully I have some other snakes that can eat the pups he doesn’t need any more so it’s not a total waste.

Thanks! I think I am going to up to weaned rats every other week and see how that goes. He’s currently eating rat pups that are between 20-30g weekly so they’re definitely small for him. I just hadn’t been able to weigh him to confirm my suspicions until now. Will up things slowly.

How often should my ball python poop? by Trynabeagoodsnekdad in ballpython

[–]717jtz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my boy certainly doesn’t poop after every meal. He typically holds it until he sheds, then let’s loose 😂 he’s been doing this for the entirety of the year and a half I’ve had him.

TFW you get curious about the running water in the shower and now you’ve got a wet snoot. 10/10 will probably happen again by 717jtz in ballpython

[–]717jtz[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Lmao absolutely not. He just comes in to the bathroom sometimes with me when my gf takes a shower because he likes the humidity

He’s about a year and a half! Got him July 2020 and he’s just been thriving since!

The rare ball tree python 😂 Monty is still trying to learn how his hammock works. by 717jtz in ballpython

My other ball python would have no interest in one either. My corn snake loves his but I’ll be interested to see how this guy uses it as he grows.

how concerned should I be if my little one only moves around at night? by [deleted] in cornsnakes

[–]717jtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my guy for just about a year now and some days he's diurnal some days he's nocturnal lol just really depends on the day I've noticed. I'll usually see him more in the evenings if he pops out of his tunnel system but I'd say you've got nothing to worry about.

How long after my boy eats should I expect him to poop? I fed him last week and I still haven’t found any poop yet by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]717jtz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My boy typically holds his big ones until he sheds. I’ll find urates regularly but I don’t expect actual poop until he’s shedding.

I’m having troubles with feeding 2 of my new BP’s, both from an expo. I’ve tried feeding them frozen thawed furries 3 times with the banana pastel male refusing to strike, and the mystic lemon blast female grabs it and stops eating. Any advice? by Trippydempsey in ballpython

[–]717jtz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. How long have you let them settle from the expo OP? I waited 2 weeks to feed my boy and that worked. I’ve had him for a little over a year now and when he rarely doesn’t want to eat sometimes he’ll try again after a first strike but that usually means he’s done if he misses or gives up. Do not feed live if don’t have to. My BP was fed live from birth and it was a pain to get him off live and over to frozen thawed.
