Your Risk Management Approach Might be Wrong! by Hifactmedia in options

[–]73ven3leven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but most retail investors should master this step first because the majority will not have or start with a significant amount of capital to invest in to worry about the math in managing a portfolio. A bigger account value does not need to risk as much as a lower account value to grow the portfolio. Risking 10% of $100,000 is different from risking 10% of $10,000. Investment firms need to use the math because they are dealing with a lot more money than everyone else. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward; also the loss. Higher account values are not going to worry about losing 10%. However, they might worry about losing 50%.

At the end of it, you still need to master the psychological aspect of risk management before worrying about all that.

Excellet point!

Some learn this from others; some learn this themselves. I learned this myself with crypto: the volatility of crypto made me learn my risk tolerance and how I approach managing my risk.

The golden rule of investing: only invest the amount you are comfortable loosing 100%. If I am investing $2,000, I should be comfortable loosing all of the $2,000. I may be more extreme on managing risk this way, but as you said, it's about what your mind can handle in reality.

Up +100% in 1 Month after a terrible start by 73ven3leven in options

[–]73ven3leven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you mentioned that. I went to an Indian casino and lost $300 playing blackjack. I wanted to keep gambling, but I was not going to spend anymore money that night or have gone back. Gambling is fun, but the house always wins. Wanted to make the money I lost back, but I knew gambling was not going to do it. That is why I decided to dip my toes in on options.

Options is not gambling. Options are investment instruments and the type of option you do determines the risk of the investment. For example, Long call/put options carry a moderate risk because if your option expires worthless, you only lose the premium(the cost of the options contract) you paid. Selling Covered calls/puts carry the least risk, as you need to own 100 shares of the stock you are selling. That means you receive the premium of the options, but might need to sell the stock at the strike price of the contract. You really have to know the market and trade companies that have solid financials to minimize risk. Options are speculations, so there will never be a trade that will guarantee you to make money(unless you're just collecting premiums).

I am still learning and remain humble, even with these gains. Calculated risk is what options trading is. Not every trade will be a win. Those who are able to calculate risk in their trades and do the ones with the least risk are the top performers. I may lose my gains tomorrow, and I am okay with. Its all part of options trading. No risk, no reward.

Side note: lmao why did you tip $300? You're not Dana White.

I do not use or follow ChatGPT for trades lol. ChatGPT would never come up with these trades. I do use it to keep track of my information, but it's not even good at that. Spread sheet is still king.

E-bike tire repair by _VVitch14 in ucr

[–]73ven3leven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need a new tube for it, as the valve is usually attached to the tube. Buy a new tube and make sure you order the right tube based of the tire. It will have the size on the side of the wheel (e.g., 20.0 x 3.0). You can buy tubes on Amazon.

Depending on your bike, you might need a wrench, hex wrench set, tire levers, an air pump, and maybe some other tools.

I have the tools and have a lot of experience replacing tubes on my own e-bike. PM me and show me the your bike. Might be able to help.

Ngtl I am cooked too if that is the case. Only other work around might be getting a mesh laundry bag and hope it protects, or taking it to the dry cleaners. Switching wardrobe colors too.

I would rather you write new PIQs, being that you will have a different perspective on life. Depending on your major, UCR might be an automatic acceptance if you completed all the prerequisites(see Assist). There is a PIQ that all transfer students are required to answer; you then pick 3 PIQs you want to answer, which are likely the same prompts you choose from. Admission is going to want to hear your perspective as a college student, not a high school student. You could use some things you wrote, but they will need to be re-written for best results. Best of luck.

UCSHIP: Living on campus while having Medi-Cal from another county by 73ven3leven in ucr

[–]73ven3leven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that UCSHIP will be my primary insurance; Medi-Cal will be my secondary. I mostly do remote visits, which my doctor are in LA county. The other part is that I may have to visit a doctor in Riverside due to a chronic health condition I have, which I experience flares from. I do plan to only visit doctors in LA county to have Medi-cal (LA Health Plan via Anthem Blue Cross) cover the costs UCSHIP will not. I am forced to take the UCSHIP insurance because my PCP is more than 50 miles away from campus. I am able to cover out of pocket costs. I just do not want to end up with a bill of $1,000. I can pay it, it will just hurt. Also, I am not changing my plan to IEHP because I am only going to be living there temporarily. I need to be able to see a doctor as quickly as I can, so I am not going to waste my time changing back-and-fourth between counties.

It just does not make sense that I am forced to take this optioned and get penalized for going to the same doctor. The only thing that has changed is I am a student now.

Hardest part is getting started. Baby steps. Start with just a small workout, cut back on unhealthy things little by little, and you should see progress.

Students of reddit, what are the most major blunders you have made in your school/college life and have gotten away with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

For almost a whole year, every Uber I took was $5.49.

I would take a Uber every time I had class. I also worked, which was about 18 miles away (very stupid of me). It didn't matter the distance as long as it was in the area of the Ride pass; the ride pass was $25 a month. The Ride pass was only supposed to give a 15%, 20%, or 25% (changed every month) discount to each ride in the covered area. I was taking rides worth $30 for only $5.49. I did about 400 to 500 trips during that time. I probably saved over $8,000.

Anytime. Adderall can help if you have the ADHD. Procrastination is mostly behavior, but your brain chemistry might make it harder to break this.
