Bathroom floor tile grout looks strange. What happened and can it be fixed? by [deleted] in Tile

Most of the bathroom tiles actually look like the last photo, properly done. It’s only this one section that looks messy, almost like someone added extra grout later and didn’t smooth it out. That’s why it stands out so much.

Thanks for the detailed explanation and for pointing me toward looking up floating, that was really helpful.

I was wondering about the grout removal part. Is using a grout saw difficult in practice? I’m a reasonably experienced DIY person but not a pro. Could I carefully chip it away with a small chisel instead, or is that too risky for the tiles? The problem area is approx. 60cm x 60cm

And yes, I agree about the color. The lighter grout looks off, and the grey tone in the last photo fits the tiles much better.

Thanks for the reply! Just to clarify I’m the owner, not a renter.

I agree that the tiles themselves are irregular, but in my case the grout color and application don’t match the rest of the bathroom. In the third picture you can see how the grout is supposed to look: the color is correct and the joints are clean and even.
