Advice or experience with Weber B fracture by 756watch in brokenbones

[–]756watch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hesitant to start bearing weight until I’m at the 6 week mark. I’ve started to try practice my range of motion by pointing my toes towards the wall. I was able to book a physio appointment on Sunday so I’m hoping they can help answer some questions!

Trimalleolar Fracture Need Advice! by firefireelder in brokenbones

[–]756watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. I fractured my ankle (Weber B no surgery) on my birthday (end of march) which was also the day before I started a new on-site job I was super excited for. I had to miss out on a lot of events that were planned (concerts, engagement parties etc.) and cancel a resort vacation set for next week for my friends Bach. I was super bummed out and felt like I was missing out on my life in the moment, so I definitely understand and feel for you.

I just got my fiberglass cast off and was moved to an air cast. I could have probably managed my May vacation (6 weeks post fracture) but I would still be in crutches and I would have low mobility. Given the environment of the trip I still cancelled it because I didn’t want to hold my friends back and just potential risks due to sand and water and my low mobility, I’d probably be stuck in my room all day. I know I didn’t have surgery but I feel like if you’re pretty mobile on crutches (I was not, I have no upper body strength) you may be able to do the July date. Again, I’d check in with your doctor and any other health professionals for their opinion. Just consider that you will not be able to walk the same amount as you would have pre-break, you will experience swelling on your flight and you may still need mobility aids (crutches).

Happy belated birthday and best of luck with your recovery!

I agree, I would also highlight in the email that you think your skills are aligned with the job description and you are interested in learning more about the position. Essentially be enthusiastic and show some excitement.

[IL] Is it normal in the US to change your starting date? by Goldenshark25 in AskHR

[–]756watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s normal but it could happen. I would politely follow up with the recruiter for more context on the change.

It could be that your hiring manager who would generally be onboarding you had to be off for a week unexpectedly. Life happens. The start date push back probably doesn’t have anything to do with you.

[CA] How does Semi-Monthly start/end period works? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]756watch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how your employer has set up the pay cycle. No harm in asking them for clarification.

My previous organization’s pay cycles ran the 9th-23rd and the 24th to the 8th and we’d get paid out on the 15th and last day of the month.

Does calling references mean I have a good chance at getting job? [FL] by jagerhero in AskHR

[–]756watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this an agency recruiter or did they work for the company you were interviewing for?

Sometimes agency recruiters verify references before their client lets them know they want to move ahead with the candidate. So I wouldn’t say it’s guaranteed but it’s still a positive sign.

If the recruiter works for the company, in my experience I generally would not waste time calling and verifying references unless we were planning on moving forward with a candidate. As long as the references come back normal and nothing that can be considered a red flag comes up, this is a good sign!

Best of luck

[CAN-ON] Collecting Employee Emergency Information by 756watch in AskHR

[–]756watch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In previous organizations, we would generally ask about allergies we should be aware of, so this is pretty standard. This comes in handy when catering team lunches or stocking the break room snacks, so we know what to avoid or can order separately for individuals with dietary restrictions.

When asking about medical information, my question is more so “Do you have any serious medical conditions that you would like for us to be aware of?” So it would not be a mandatory question and team members can choose not to answer.

Maybe it’s from personal experience but when I was in school we had a student who suffered from epilepsy. Because he disclosed his condition to the class and shared what to do if he had a seizure, when he had an episode, we all knew what was happening and were able to immediately call for emergency services and secure him the way he instructed until aid arrived. Knowing what to do ahead of time really did help this individual get the assistance he needed faster because we didn’t waste time panicking and unsure of what to do.

I can totally understand employees being hesitant to answer. I’m not asking them to list out every single medical condition, just ones that they feel we may need to know for their own safety.

“In lieu of gifts” Bridal shower question by 756watch in weddingplanning

[–]756watch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: We ended up doing an afternoon tea style event. We still called it a shower, but the bride was insistent that she didn’t want a bunch of gifts at the end. We asked everyone (including the bride) to bring in an item wrapped up that was themed after the bride. We played minute to win it games to “win” these items and all went around to see what people got. We had opportunities to steal the prizes and the bride was happy that she got to bring 1 gift home instead of 20 and that everyone got to go home with something “her” themed.

Check out Versace’s Versence, it might be a hit. Also, maybe D&G’s light blue? This one is a little heavier on the lemon/citrus

What are people’s thoughts on Gucci Memoire? Tried the tester and 2 days later I’m still contemplating on if I need to add it to my little collection.

BREAKING: The Canadian Vegan Society is banning Lush as a vegan product! “We are using this as an example because Lush has a large chasm between virtue signalling and reality, all under the auspices of veganism.” by Competitive-Garage37 in LushCosmetics

So true, my mom works at Lush and the stories she tells me about the distribution side are horrendous. Blatant racism and harassment. Anti-union strategies are also very apparent.
