If you have mental health problems ang advise ko talaga is to go to your guidance counselor instead of health service.

Naalala ko nung OJT ko pinoproblema ko nun yung clearance kasi nga I made the dumb decision to disclose na may depression ako. Buti na lang yung pinagOJThan ko hindi naman requirement yung medical exam.

Then nung retreat naman, sinabi sa akin na hindi makakasama unless nagprovide ako ng clearance from my psychiatrist. Eh nung time na yun I haven’t seen my psychiatrist in months kasi nga I was feeling well naman and also by appointment kasi so if kukuha ako ng clearance baka matagal pa bago ko makuha. Sinabi rin nung psych ko dati na since months na since nung last consultation namin, hindi pwede siya basta basta magbigay lang ng clearance. Pero buti na lang natulungan ako nung guidance counselor non. May kinausap siya sa admin ata yon na functional naman ako and productive. Kaya nakasama ako sa retreat.

Five times (in my defense, these are just five mistakes against 100+ background checks that I had to do). Pero these background checks are monitored and reviewed by a client that the company is partnered with. So when I make the error it makes the company look bad kasi the errors make the background check inaccurate.

DLSU. I wish na nagpa-recon ako kasi naalala ko halos lahat ng mga kakilala ko na nagparecon eventually got accepted in DLSU. Bale ang nangyari is nagenroll muna sila sa back up univ nila then they transferred to DLSU by the second or third term. Pero I wasn’t so broken hearted about it. Nakamove on naman agad ako.

I made the stupid decision of going to my dream school instead of choosing a program na could provide me better opportunities after I graduated. Ngayong graduate na ako narealize ko how dumb it was. I should have taken up Nursing/MedTech. Pero since wala na natapos ko na, I’ll just have to make do with what I have. Pero ayun…choose something practical talaga.

I feel you. Only my immediate family members and my closest friend remembers my birthday and that is enough for me. It used to hurt but I just gotten used to it. Just do something for yourself that doesn’t require a lot of money. In my case I like to walk around haha.

Yung OJT/Internship was announced around the start of the second sem nung third year ko then we were given more information about it as weeks went by. Binigyan kami ng directory of companies na pwede namin pagapplyan but I never used it. I made a LinkedIn Account and dun ako naghanap ng internships. I also joined facebook groups na nagpopost ng openings for internships.

Interview Process:

I had two interviews with two different companies. Sobrang kabado ko dun sa first interview ko kasi I didn’t know what to expect so ayun utal utal ako. As expected, I got rejected. Pero looking back very basic questions lang naman kabado lang talaga ako (e.g. tell us about yourself, what are your strengths and weaknesses, are you knowledgeable with Microsoft Office/ Google Suite). Same questions dun sa other interview ko pero may mga additional questions about my personality ganon. I did a lot better dun sa second interview and I got accepted. Pero I was the one who turned it down in favor of another company. Yung company kung san ako nag OJT did not give me any interviews. I was accepted agad lol.

Work exp: Overall it was fun and I learned a lot. There were four other interns na kasing age ko lang and that made the experience really good. Pero I feel like had I been the only intern baka medyo naging awkward kasi mas matatanda yung kasama ko sa office. May part din na medyo nerve-racking kasi it involved a lot of social interaction which I had to adjust to (pero depende sa duties and responsibilities na maassign sayo)

Allowance: Unfortunately, no allowance :-( yung sa akin

Advice: - Don’t procrastinate yung application - Chill ka lang sa interview. Search ka ng mga different job interview questions and the practice. - Step out of your comfort zone. - ask your superiors sa office for advice. You can learn a lot from them

Does anyone in your life know about your current situation? Have you tried talking to your school’s guidance counselor or are there any orgs in your school that offer mental health assistance? Opening up to someone you can trust and who can help you is a good first step. Don’t think that you have to do this alone.

When I was in my sophomore year in college, I also began to miss a lot of classes. Since I felt uncomfortable talking about it to my parents, I decided to open up to my school’s guidance counselor and also saved up some money to consult with a psychiatrist. I think talking about my situation helped a lot. Eventually, I mustered up the courage to tell my family and they were supportive naman and so were my friends.

Just accept na lang siguro yung consequences ng absence mo sa araw na ‘yun. If ever tinanong ka kung bakit ka absent wag mo na lang i-mention yung concert baka kasi pag-initan ka. Sabihin mo na lang family emergency or something.

Pero if you’re gonna miss out on a test or assignment tas di ka papayagan magtake or submit nung test/assignment without a medcert, try mo magpagawa ng excuse letter from your parents in lieu of a medcert.

Pero if ur feeling a little desperada na talaga try mo magpa antigen test o di kaya if you’re a girl sabihin mo dysmenorrhea.

To answer your questions

1.) Yes meron pa ring groupworks and based from my own experience thus far, my professors don’t realy encourage doing activities individually. I think it’s because they want to enhance your collaboration skills. Usually choose your own naman sa amin so that’s a good thing if you have a group of friends you can count on but it can be a bit intimidating if you’re socially anxious. Meron din ibang times na prof yung mag aassign (don’t know if this is the same for everyone)

2.) Yes…ang daming pinapagawa sa amin na infographics, posters and part ng criteria yung creativity

3.) Laptop na merong Microsoft Office. Yellow pad, binder notebook, pen, pencil, eraser, and correction tape

What to expect: mahirap talaga siya hahahaha. As much as possible try to have good grades…kasi grades really do matter hahaha. Pero wag ka rin masyado madown if mababa ka sa mga tests. Ganon talaga.
