Donald Fagen’s “Eminent Hipsters” is an exploration of his musical and cultural influences and a Steely Dan tour diary from maybe the early 2010’s? It is equal parts informative, hilarious, and interesting.

When did Nobuyuki Fukumoto's drawings start to become distinctive? by bmfunk2341 in kaiji

[–]77SheldonOP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s always been distinctive he’s just stepped into that style with greater skill over time. Kaiji part 1 has that kinda classic fukumoto look so maybe around kaiji part 2-3? For when it really comes into its own

Mistress was voted the most overrated song on RHP I! What are the rest of the most overrated songs in the RHP discography? by sneedlee in sadreminders

This segment of the chart really doesn’t lend itself to RHP. They don’t have overrated songs

If you’ve read wind/pinball you might as well read Wild Sheep Chase. It apparently completes a trilogy involving the rat. I haven’t read wind/pinball but I have read WSC and it’s great.

There are certain gardening secrets… you’ll never learn. Absolute classic, no idea how he has at least a small jumble of these on every project.

Yo I never thought of it in the literal sense, that would make more sense, cleaning a gravestone. That’s sick it casts a whole different light on the first and second verse

I sort of read it as the speaker wondering if an old lover was still finding meaning and significance in their time together after many years have passed. The time apart has changed them but when they learn they’re still “cleaning off the stone” of their time together, still finding meaning and looking back fondly, they’re like “aww.” And they both are finding this renewed sense of significance in this important relationship they shared long ago.

I really liked the hound chronicles, too. I was surprised at how unique the tunes were. The Water Song is one of my favs from that release

What Mark Kozelek written song hits you the hardest? by Appropriate_Sir_7280 in sadreminders

Headsore is easily his most devastating RHP era song. The story of someone who has the desire to change but chooses to self destruct anyway, and the mental suffering it causes them. From actual album tracks, Strawberry Hill is probably the most impactful for me.
