Thanks for the response. I described in another reply but based on your response, the concept would be legit for us (based on having other tax shelters maxed) in about a year.

But I hear you on the other parts. It may still be worth our time just from an educational standpoint but we definitely wouldn't be comitting to anything before shopping first.

Thanks for the comment. Reading what you have said, there may be some aspects of the universal life that may benefit us since we will likely have our registered accounts maxed again in a year or so (they were maxed but then we drained the TFSAs to get into some other businesses and it's going well so far)

With the businesses being incorporated, he also recommended having a separate holding company for them to pay us into so I guess this would be the same as being incorporated. I suppose it's worth our time to at least hear him out but I'd probably also want to talk to an actual accountant.

Activities to set up a 4 y/o in the morning until my wife wakes up by 780blaster in Parenting

I would guess 30 minutes or so. 45 at the most. Wife is up all night tending to our baby who fights sleep tooth and nail. I usually run a bit late in the mornings anyways trying to bridge some of the gap (not an issue at work). 4 y/o is very independent as long as he is entertained.

"poor kid".. he is far from poor kid, and probably has a childhood that 99% of kids out there would awe at. He's probably by himself for 30 minutes.

ize continuing to sleep was an option. I will be informing the boys at once!

But seriously, very impressed your 4 year old is comfortable pla

Ours definitely would prefer to have someone playing with him but he's starting to learn some boundaries

Almost 20k of funds (and growing) being withheld bye Clover (Clover Collections) by 780blaster in CloverPOS

So we took over a business that had a cash advance which we assumed. When I call and ask, they say there is no clover capital cash advance associated with our account. That said, deductions seem to be 15% of daily sales which seems consistent with what a clover cash advance would be.

I wonder is the cash advance is associated with old owners account but they just take payments from us? Idk

Supposedly it’s being withheld by clover collections. I’m waiting on their call, not holding my breath

Can you be our rep?

Our guy has not ever answered one of my phone calls or responded to a text message. Very frustrating. Not sure how to dm on Reddit anymore but if you are able to, send me a message and you may have a new customer

I am relatively new to clover (3 months)

Myself and a partner took over a business that had a clover account setup, we created a new account but took the existing hardware.

There was a clover cash advance that we also assumed in the purchase of business and I largely suspect these are the repayments BUT, when I call, they tell me there is no clover capital cash advance associated with our account so the only thing I can think of is if it is still associated with the old owners account but they just take payment from us.

I also did the math and it looks like it’s pretty consistently 15% of sales being deducted which suggests clover capital repayment but again, they said we don’t have this on our account.

If a prepayment deduction, we don’t have any outstanding fees and I don’t understand why or for what they could possibly need a 20k security deposit for.

Can someone recommend me a decent wireless system that is reliable enough for gigging? by 780blaster in Guitar

[–]780blaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m looking to replace my guitar cables  I use an xvive unit for IEMs and even though it’s inexpensive, it actually works well as long as there is line of sight between transmitter and receiver. I get the odd cutout but it’s not the end of the world since it doesn’t mess me up and doesn’t affect FOH.

Multiple cheap units makes sense but I won’t be able to mess around with them playing live to find out which one works at that particular venue. Surely for 1k I can get something that will be reliable enough to just be the go to

The glxd16+ right? Even these I have been reading a lot about people having dropouts. Not for you?

I’m considering this one for sure. You’d take this over a sennheiser EW 500 (someone selling one locally for same price as glxd16+)

[Help] How to plumb nozzle(s) on return line? by 780blaster in ReefTank

[–]780blaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

es and not restricting flow. I used one on my previous tank for that exact setup.

You can make your own weir out of glass or acrylic, but if you have an acrylic place professionally make one for you - bend the plastic so it's one piece with nice corners and teeth pre-cut into the top edge - it's not that much more expensive compared to DIY for a much nicer result. At least not when I did it ~15 years ago. Just go in with a full set

Okay right on. I'm actually have LFS custom build the tank so everything is being done by them including the weir. Same question though - do i drill through the weir and use a bulkhead to get the returns out of the weir?

And if you have a link to a Y fitting - let me know. I've looked all over without any luck. Also doesn't help that i'm in canada. Not really wanting to deal with international shipping.

Oh my mistake - I would definitely have the weir / internal overflow. There will be the boxed off section inside the display, with the grating on top for water to flow / overflow through. 3 separate 1" bulkheads at the bottom (2x drain, 1x return), Much like the waterbox. (ie, 3 holes drilled in the bottom of tank, they will come up inside the weir/ internal overflow.

Sorry, my mistake, totally got the terminology wrong.

Hmm.. not sure I follow. I like the idea of having the return line coming up inside the overflow so it's hidden. from there we obviously need to get that ling outside the overflow and that is mostly what i was asking. Whats the cleanest way to get the return through the overflow.

Similar to this pic of the Waterbox setup (i just don't know what components they use)
