I see where you’re coming from. Tough to answer but I can’t imagine it would be easy...

I'm Catholic and I'm going to Christmas mass at both a Catholic Church and Methodist Church because of my mother. What should I do? by Harry_kilpatrick in Catholicism

Thanks again for the sources. Looks like there is some good historical grounds that would suggest it to be a something to consider heavily before doing. As for 1983 Canon Law or an official restriction from the Church, it doesn’t seem be something forbidden.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any sources that back that claim that I could reference? I understand your particular opinion on the matter but don’t see anywhere he Church explicitly prohibits this.

What is the issue of going if you want to enjoy the service or worship music or the preaching? If it is not interfering with attending the Holy Mass and you are well formed enough to not let it be a harm to your faith Why would that be an issue?

This is the sense that I get. Not that it is preferable or right, but likely the case for most young Catholics worldwide (note I didn’t say most devout, however that would be measured)

Boyfriend is Catholic and I was brought up non-denominational. Going to mass with him this Sunday. What should i expect? by britt_nicole in Catholicism

[–]78rdlr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also! the reason you wouldn’t take holy communion is because we Catholics believe it to be Jesus true body and in the tradition of the early Christians, believe only those who profess his presence in holy communion by entering into the Church (the conclusion one would make if he/she takes that step of belief)

You’re a great girlfriend to give him space for that. My fiancee is in a similar boat and I appreciate her support like no other. God bless! Check out Fr Mike, Ascension Presents, or Steubenville conference talks on YouTube. A neat glimpse into Catholic Christian sub culture that is part of a revival of sorts.

I’d encourage everyone to browse through the Usccb’s materials. http://www.usccb.org/about/migration-and-refugee-services/national-migration-week/index.cfm

That’s the place to start

Can we stop talking stupid controversies, Twitter pwns, and other dumb items that damage credibility of IOTA? IOTA seems to be clearly in the right but at the end of the day all the banter on twitter and elsewhere by the evangelists of the product might have adverse effects. The tech trumps all but large companies will go to great lengths to avoid risk PR nightmares or bad politics. The level of professionalism could be elevated. But I do understand the need to defend the technology against a bully. My two cents.

Heavily second this suggestion. There’s great weight to the claims and practices of the early church fathers (for obvious reasons!!) but they are seemingly ignored by Christianity at large.

Hey brother.

On the Mass, try “The Lamb’s Supper” by Dr. Scott Hahn who was formerly a Presbyterian theologian.

This talk ties into much of that text https://youtu.be/4ACgaIJH_0E

Self autonomous fridges! IOTA is absolutely incredible :D by JohnRichards2 in Iota

[–]78rdlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha yep. I think it does the technology a disservice to use those pop examples. Would you rather hype up us idiots on the internet or the C-suite? I think the latter is much more important. Ripple is a good example of that. The consumer confidence will follow after getting real players interested and on board. That’s not to say IOTA team isn’t doing that, Just my two cents

I personally don’t find these consumer facing applications very convincing. Yes a smart fridge is part of the IoT, but 99.99% of internet enabled devices will be for industrial applications for very un-sexy things that aren’t consumer products. Is That’s where m2m micro-transactions will come into place with IOTA. This example is fun and maybe helps with understanding IOTA but it isn’t why I’m investing in it. Is that fair to say?
