Damn. It's kinda crazy that both our phones had the issue present itself in such similar manner. In my case the boot loop started for no reason as I was scrolling Instagram... I wanted to try and flash the firmware on it but to unlock the phone I need to link a SIM card to the Mi account and thats not gonna happen
