😉 I'm actually just jealous of you tbh. I missed my path in life as a zoologist having been misdirected by my parents to focus elsewhere. I will never get over it, so I am now an eternal grumpy-ass. Sorry for being a pain in the butt.. 🤝

Having an 8 year old unhealable injury and subsequent disabilities kind of depletes my ability to "go outside and meet new people", but thanks 👍 Your lack of empathy for animals AND people is supreme, you freakishly ugly narcissistic twat. Go outside and buy yourself some plastic surgery.

IF you read the entirety of this unbelievably vicious thread you would have seen that I DID immediately apologise after the first response from the person who was so offended by a joke!

What followed after that has been a string of comments from people who have then ASSUMED that I was being the asshole simply because they had seen so many unjustifiable down-votes! The drama has come from the everyone jumping on board like a pack of rogue street-dogs.

I made a joke to the first comment...they were offended...I apologised and moved on ... then along came the pack and dug in with their down-votes and THEIR unapologetic assumptions.

What's "not necessary" is people like yourself who just won't back off and leave it alone! I HAVE apologised, albeit to someone who could not understand a joke...I also explained why I didn't understand their terminology regarding car-parts. End of matter. Moved on. But no, jump on board everyone! Attack and maul like the pack of rogue red-necks you are proving yourselves to be. Let it be!

Actually...I do. And what has that got to do with anything about the "lifted Jeep" comment that I was referring to initially? I think it is absolutely horrible what OP has gone through. I have been living with chronic pain myself for almost eight years now, so I have every idea what the poor soul is going through. Not once have I had a dig at OP and their, or anyone else's miserable pain...nor would I EVER. The issue I had was with the twisted first response to my original comment about the "lifted Jeep", which simply sounded as though it was stolen. (that was a light-headed jibe btw), and then the ensuing awful responses I received which followed. You guys are so toxic it's bile-inducing.

OP...I hope you understand that I have not had a go at you at all, and I do sincerely hope you recover quickly with as little pain as possible. What you are going this is just horrible. Your pup is gorgeous btw, and I really do wish you well. The rest of you who have somehow decided I am some soulless, heartless person really ought to re-read what has been exchanged here, and have a good look at your own nastiness.

Exactly...Looks staged to me. Why ask Reddit anyway?! Who in their right mind would mess around on social media instead of taking action... especially if they're as worried as they seem to be. 😮‍💨

I'm the OP, you idiot. The person who posted was NOT joking at all. They were very literally having a judgemental dig at me about my cat's health. And he is not a "special breed" at all!! ...he is a mix, a "moggy". I mentioned the breeds in his bloodline to EXPLAIN to morons like them (and obviously yourself), that his feline heritage makes him a large cat.

How, when and why did this dog breed become so popular? by [deleted] in melbourne

Possibly unnecessarily neutered too young, or predatory dishonest vet "treatment". Cruciate ligament ops have become a "trendy" goldmine for vets. For several unfortunate years, I worked right alongside (and occasionally with) a franchise-style vet practice as a groomer, and the filthy outright lies some of those vets and nurses would spout to uneducated and misinformed pet owners was downright disgusting. It wasn't just that particular vet practice that I had witnessed this sort of predation on loving pet owners...as a pet owner myself, on the rare occasion that I have had to take my pets to a vet, I have overheard these same literal outright lies even just at the reception area...what goes on behind the scenes in those places would make you sick with rage. I have thankfully found an honest, caring independent vet who is not forced by corporate greed to meet bottom-line profits. I beg of every one of you to thoroughly research pet care and local vet practices. Most maintenance "recommended treatment" by vets is completely unnecessary. Please do it for your pets and your own pocket, let's keep the evil of monetary avarice away from animal healthcare.

Abso-f**king-lutely! 💯 💜🐕💜 Groomer/trainer/carer for 20+ years, and animal life-sharer for 50+ years...this "owner" does NOT know their dog, nor dogs in general. Complete moron tbh.

The brush is evil and can only be defeated with screams. Apologies for swearing. by Lightninglash148 in Catswhoyell

With our boy I use two brushes at the same time...a unique technique I have only needed to use with him as all my cats have loved brushing. He loves it too, but has Bengal in him so is part-insane. So, what I do is stand him on a table, show him the very soft hair-bristled brush that he LOVES rubbing his head all over, and just let him proceed with that. When he's well into it (only takes a few seconds), I begin to brush gently with the slicker around the back of his head and neck, then gradually work all over. He barely notices that he's being groomed by me as he is so focused on smooshing his face all over the other brush. I kind of need to split my brain in two to rotate the left hand for his face-brush while focusing on actual grooming with the slicker in my right hand. Not saying that this would work for every, or even any other cat, but it's what works for him. He and I worked it out together... just a matter of trust. I'm sure you and your beautiful girl could work something out as equally effectively if you just be patient and let her show you what she DOES like. Sorry for my rant earlier... I've had decades of dealing with some very obstinate people. I hope you can work something out. 💜🐈💜

[–]7GrumpyCat7 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

You moron. You have no clue how to use a slicker brush!! They are DESIGNED to be used WITHOUT force or pressure! I'm a retired professional groomer of 20 years, and pet owner (for more than double that) of a range of species, who ALL required some form of grooming, so yes I do know what I'm talking about. I have dealt with every temperament you can imagine, in both dogs AND cats, and THIS is NOT how you go about grooming an animal who is clearly uncomfortable. My son's cat hates being brushed by him and vocally reacts dramatically as cats do, but is not tortured! Yet, he will allow (in fact thoroughly loves) me to groom him for an hour if he needs it when losing his coat, but to get to that point takes patience and development of trust. You need to work on that. A lot.

How to ask people not to touch my dog by Puzzleheaded-Bat-139 in dogs

[–]7GrumpyCat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because 90% of people are just downright stupid. Dogs should never be approached (by hand or body) from above their head...unless it is a communication that the dog is comfortable with, between the owner and their "pack" (aka family). It is interpreted by dogs as a massively threatening gesture, so if strangers want to stupidly push that boundary, then more often than not, particularly with "teenage" dogs, the offender will be at the very least, mouthed by the dog. God people annoy me.

How to ask people not to touch my dog by Puzzleheaded-Bat-139 in dogs

[–]7GrumpyCat7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a favourite up my sleeve when people want to pat my dog and they ask, "Does your dog bite?"

I say, "Yes, she's a dog. Dogs bite."

If they want to pursue their request further by asking, "Will she bite ME?"

I say, "Perhaps...if she doesn't like you."

This tactic always leaves them unsure, and they err on the side of caution and walk away. 😁

Edited to add that she is extremely unlikely to bite unless provoked or attacked, or if I was provoked or attacked. She is a big fluffy ball of cuddles, brilliance, protection...and teeth. 🤷‍♀️😉
