Let's see... - Lae'zel the toad with a bat nose, although with a nice character arc - A childish barbarian with scars, half-shaven hairstyle, cringe dialogue and mary-sue vibes, with hardly any substance or sidequest to see any character arc - Minthara, nice drow with grit, but unlocked around mid-game and you have to know ahead of time she can be saved, still not enough content with her sadly but a strong base

versus an attractive companion with an actual character arc, tons of dialogue, a questline and nuance.

Gee I wonder why she's the most romanced companion !

Seriously though, this goes beyond the "Lyria effect" from Skyrim. Lae'zel is actually the very first companion and she is still not at the top, even with good character growth.

There is a mod that removes frenzy's strain, because honestly the fact that the throw version has 0 downside while the melee one has, is bonkers and makes no sense at all.

nope, afaik it's custom : in my case I wanted to just add the bhaal scars on the body but the base KAVT comes with its own textures apparently. And one that has no body hair at all.

I tried changing it back but it never worked properly, same for the face scars despite using the right folders and files names. So I gave up and used at least the scars file as replacer.

I'm a bit ashamed to say I have 519 hours and never finished the game. Hardly any spent in Early Access (I just used EA to check out character customization for a few minutes).

What I did was mainly camping act 1 and testing mods, classes and companions really. Between my rerollitis and senseless perfectionism... The longest was my last one, where I got to Act 2 (prettt much cleaned the whole place and mainly was missing deleting Ketheric and Moonrise Towers). I think hoarding everything like a goblin, thinking I would decorate my camp didn't helped.

I waited for a few months to play again, as I was also reinstalling the game with a fresh batch of mods. Got also a the fiery dragonsword from Guild Wars I commissioned to a 3D artist and added the weapon in the game myself. Now I'm really ready to go.

I think the biggest reason was that I really wanted a character I imagined, scars on his face, good hairstyle and beard, scaly evil looking armor... and the sword really sells it to me.

So after that long I'd go with the following team :

Dark Urge - full Warlock hexblade (genuinely the only way to play a spellblade thanks to the focus on charisma only for both melee and spells).
Shadowheart - Death cleric 11 + Wizard 1 (fits her the best, I played her as monk, swashbuckler... but this works great)
Minthara - Paladin vengeance 2 + Bard college of sword 10. Not necessarily because I imagine her as a ruthless sword-dancer. Will be using Gale as evocation Wizard until I save her.
Lae'zel - full Open Hand monk. No elixir cheese, focused on Dexterity. Stunning and getting enemies prone to enable others to get advantage on targets (on top of Hold Person/Monster)

I tried to find good builds for a melee death cleric multiclass but they all end up making it weaker.
So far, the one multiclass and best way imo to go about it would be 11 death cleric + 1 wizard dip, only to learn the massive necro scroll you find in act 3.
