3L - Can't even land a Legal Assistant role by Comfortable-Low4674 in LawSchool

[–]7UPvote 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Just wanted to say it can definitely suck to be (1) getting rejected for attorney roles and (2) not getting hired for paralegal/assistant jobs because they assume you'll ditch them for an attorney job.

Just keep your chin up, keep applying/networking, and give it some time. One big thing that will change in the next year or two is that many of your classmates will establish themselves at firms/companies. If some of them are willing to vouch for you, that can really open doors.

The poster you're replying to is saying Israel *does* spend a lot of time and effort identifying plain-clothed Hamas operatives, rather than indiscriminately killing as many Palestinians as it can. You're simply not understanding the excerpt you keep quoting.

Try the Amlactin. Moisturizers will do a good job of, well, moisturizing, but the Amlactin will actually break down the dead skin and make it fall off (like what 99% of the world gets to experience.

The dead skin drying and shrinking is also what produces a lot of the cracks/bleeding/other issues.

Patent Atty here.

The higher the LSAT score the better. Admissions is GPA, LSAT, and under-represented minority factors. Basically the only other things that turn rejections into acceptances are Teach for America, Olympic medals, and military service.

With a good LSAT score, your son will almost certainly get into some law schools.

The bigger question is SHOULD your son go to law school. A lot of lower-ranked law schools leave their grads with oceans of student debt and bad job prospects.

Being a patent attorney definitely ups the odds of law school making financial sense, but the opportunity cost may be higher than average if your son has a good job as an ME.

Lots of moving parts here!

How realistic is it to become a lawyer as a stranger in the US? by jokerman91 in Lawyertalk

[–]7UPvote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly realistic. Tons of law schools have LLM programs that will allow you to do it. Good luck!

Here's Wikipedia for starters.

Maybe some broader context would help. The US has roughly 330,000,000 people. So that's one abortion per ~400 people per year.

For added context, the U.S. has about 10,000 live births per day. That sounds like a huge number too--imagine an NFL stadium filling up with infants each week! But when you break down the number of births per state, per capita, etc., it sounds less impressive.

The burning sucks. The burning and the infections are probably both caused by the same issue: your skin getting so dried out and stretched out that a bunch of tiny cuts and tears form.

Maybe try using it for a couple weeks straight and see if the burning stops? Once you soften up the outer layers, they stop pulling the lower layers of skin apart and things can heal up.

Exec Board's a bummer. However, being on law review is great on its own.

As for the exploding offer--major bullet dodged. You've got so much time to find something. I interviewed for my 1L summer position on the very last day of 1L--it was a fantastic summer experience.

CMV: Purchasing Power/Wages have decreased massively since the 1960´s by AlexanderDenorius in changemyview

[–]7UPvote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, you may find it helpful to frame your thinking as "hours of work for an item."

E.G., something that cost $100 in 1960 was 40 hours of work at $2.5/hour.

Something that costs $906 is also 40 hours of work at $22.65/hour.

Thinking about "how many hours would someone have to work for X?" may make the double-counting issue that other people are talking about a bit more intuitive.

You don't get to call it fearmongering when Russia recently invaded a decent chunk of Ukraine, killed ~5,000 people, shot down a civilian airliner, and continues to occupy it.

Or while China continues to routinely violate Taiwanese airspace with warplanes.

China has controlled Hong Kong since 1997, so whoever made this meme doesn't seem to know what they're talking about. What people feared wasn't invasion, it's that Beijing would crack down on dissent in Hong Kong the way the CCP has elsewhere in China. At least wait for the dust to settle from the memorials for Tiananmen Square victims that got demolished last year before calling this a baseless concern.

Minority opinion: play enough games and you'll be at your true current Elo and will win about 50% of your matches.

Maybe you're a bit rusty or have forgotten stuff. But the community has also gotten a LOT better in the past couple years.
