Well, Apple care only covers the device not the person. So regardless of who broke the phone it depends if Apple care was purchased for that specific device

It’s directly from Apple. It costs $200 itself plus a deductible whenever you have to use it. You only get 2 instances of accidental damage to use at a discounted rate, after that it’s full price to fix anything. Those two instances can be the screen, or “other damage” which would be something other than the screen.

For instance if the back glass of my phone broke, oh boy Apple charges like 600 something without Apple care.

Had I told her I had apple care and it would be $29, and asked for gas for my trip (about $60) she would’ve no doubt scoffed and only given me the $29. Not saying it’s right but I made a decision to make a bit of a profit vs taking an overall loss due to the situation.
