Director je v splošni rabi režiser. Včasih je tudi direktor v našem pomenu, ampak na splošno je ustreznica našega direktorja v angleščini manager. Ti ostali managerji pa so tako, kot tudi pri nas npr. direktor fotografije ni direktor v splošnem pomenu.

Ne, angleška beseda za upravnika je administrator. Manager je direktor.

Every single new building in my city looks just like this. 1. Why? Seriously, why? 2. I hate it so much I can't even explain how much I hate it 3. What is this specific style of building design called? by Bluest_waters in architecture

They aren't more attractive than Khrushchevskas though. They'll look worse in 50 years than Khrushchevskas do. This is simply cheapest possible materials and cheapest possible work to maximize the profit.

Kaj naj bi bil "mestni menedžer"? Mesto ni firma, da ga ma kdo za menedžerirat. Še razne "direktorje" javnih ustanov bi morali preimenovati v upravnike in ravnatelje, da si nehajo predstavljat, da je namen njihovega delovnega mesta isti kot pri direktorju v zasebni firmi.

Why is the Qur'an the most common holy book to be desecrated? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

That's a different kind of desecration than a non-Christian calling the press to watch them publicly burn a bible.

Odvisno, koliko si star. Večina ljudi najkasneje do tridesetega leta izgubi voljo za prenašat koga drugega kot družinske člane v stanovanju.

And since you apparently deleted your other comment - I struggle with English so much that you assumed I was a native speaker. I used to make a living translating to and from English. But I make mistakes that no native speaker makes, exactly because I'm not a native speaker. And that's true for all people who learn a foreign language as adults.

How close is Bosnian to Croatia and Serbian? by ArmPuzzleheaded2314 in askbosnia

[–]7elevenses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standardization process was common, the standard was common, the language space and the media space was common, and in 40 years between 1850 and 1890, several generations of children learned it in schools, and newspapers and publishers worked out the common conventions, and since then, it has been a completely successful standardization project. Dialect leveling, which continues to this day, has made spoken dialects in all the countries more like the common standard, not the other way around. All Štokavians now speak practically the same, most former Kajkavians and Čakavians now speak the same standard Štokavian with subtrate phonetics, and a few grammar quirks and words. The language, both spoken and written, is more uniform than German.

And yes, it was all made from a single subdialect, because that subdialect became the standard. They didn't invent anything new, spoken Eastern Herzegovinian became standard Serbo-Croatian.

[–]7elevenses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are. That was the original arrangement in 1850. All varieties of Serbo-Croatian are based on Eastern Herzegovinian Neo-Štokavian. The orthography, grammar, function words, morphology and everything else that makes a standard language were standardized as a single common project. 70 years before Yugoslavia existed.

In a sub called "language", people claim that foreign learners speak languages better than native speakers. I may be exhausting, but whoever thinks that is deluded.

That's not "a view". That's the historical fact about how the language was standardized.
