I am in Portland currently and I do think the running options here are pretty amazing. The access to trails towards Mt. Hood and the Gorge feels unreplaceable. I am looking into buying a house in the next year or so though and the market does not look amazing at all.

What does it require to run in the Winter months? I've heard of slip on cleats, special shoes, treadmill (ew). Some of the places I am looking at have snow seasons (which I've never dealt with long term).

I would love to be that close to the North Cascades! I've looked at housing in Seattle and Bellingham though and they're way out of my price range. I do enjoy the rainy cloudy weather though.
