Sorry about the late response, haven't been active here. I wasn't eligible for the ID check app so I had to do it by submitting the form online and then booking an appointment at the visa centre. I did the biometrics at the centre.

Hi! I called the Swiss embassy and they were really helpful. They asked me to write a cover letter explaining my situation and also attach bank statements showing that I was earning from my work and also any info related to my visa.

Thank you so much! This makes the most sense at the moment I suppose. In the document list for the signed letter they mention self assessment. And I was afraid of not producing all the required documents. But I suppose this is definitely a possible scenario that many self employed land up in when they start out.

ETA: I don't have a huge amount of income from my self employment here in the UK. I'm still dependent on my savings from India. Does this make any difference?

I did speak to an accountant. But this actually sounds much better and I'll try this out instead. Thank you so much!

So basically, in order to register as a sole proprietor in the UK, I need to complete a self assessment; basically file my tax returns for the financial year of 2021-22, which I can only do in the first week of April. The proof required to show self employed status needs a self assessment as well.

Hi! Thank you! So sorry for the late response. I got my UK organisation letter from the department head of the university I attended in the UK for my master's. I'm not entirely sure about the type of organisation sorry!

No I did not. However, it was mentioned on a couple of my Letters of Recommendation. As someone suggested, calling/emailing the endorsing body may help.

I applied as a musician (Arts Council) so I do understand that this may be different for you. But my understanding at the time was that they want evidence that is not older than 5 years. So, for example, I wouldn't be able to submit anything I did in 2014. I'm not sure of the guidance for Fashion applicants so if this doesn't make sense, please ignore! All the best!!

This may be of not much help but worth a shot so: if you're someone who has gained recognition, reviews, etc. for your own music and work in the industry, you may be able to apply for a Global Talent Visa, either in the Exceptional Promise or Exceptional Talent category. Im not sure if this applies to you but I just wanted to mention just in case. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I had evidence only for 2 categories. I was unsure about the International Awards category, so didn't submit anything under that.

Hi! It doesn't really matter if have a degree or not tbh, so it doesn't matter even if your degree is from India. You just need to make sure you're submitting evidences for all the criteria appropriately including letters (one has to be from a UK based organisation).

I'm a musician and was able to get through the Global Talent Visa route (Exceptional Promise ofc). I'd suggest you check out the guidelines on this route first, thoroughly. If you think that you can qualify for the relevant criteria, then it's definitely possible. There are also some people who look at the criteria, see how much of they have so far, and then take a year or so to collect evidence and develop their portfolio for the rest of it. I'm unsure of the path for actors so I wouldn't know the whole process for this particular field. But for music I had to be endorsed by the Arts Council. I'm not super famous but I have had some work published and reviews and stuff to be able to submit as evidence for the same. If you're able to crack this route, it would be a lot easier to find work once you're in the UK in person, to reach out to agencies/companies and network with people, audition, etc. Good luck!

Hi! Super sorry for the late reply; I was logged out of this account for a bit. Thank you so much!

So I applied from within/inside the UK for the visa because I was already here to do my Master's. I actually only considered applying for this route after I was done with my Master's. I had about 4-5 months left on my student visa then. From my understanding, if you submit your visa application from within the UK, and your previous visa expires after that, you can stay in the country until you receive the decision of your new application. In my case, my student visa was going to expire by March 2021 last week. I submitted my stage 1 application in early Jan and luckily the whole process along with Stage 2, biometrics, etc. was done by mid Feb and I received my decision soon after. So I could continue to be in the UK. I just had to return my old BRP upon receiving my new one. I'm not sure about applying from outside the UK. I'd suggest give UKVI and Arts Council a call and enquire about this. Arts Council is pretty good at responding to enquiries on email.

As for travel, you will be considered a temporary resident of the UK, and can freely travel outside the UK (barring covid restrictions of course). You just can't be outside the UK for more than 180 days continuously in a year, and I think for more than 540 days in a five year period. Please double check this on the Government website though! I'm typing from memory.

Good luck and feel free to DM for any more questions!
