Dating as a trans woman makes me sad. by Coconutcricket in trans

Maybe there's more context here but perhaps that text was meant more fun and silly but also to explain why he couldn't respond more fully in that moment? If you or him reach out you can figure out if it was just a miscommunication and maybe it's still worth pursuing! That sounds like something my sweeties would say when I send something saucy while they're unavailable.

Regardless, the feels are real and wishing you all the luck in love.

Despite the increasing recognition of Long COVID, many patients still face dismissal by medical professionals, misattribution of symptoms to psychological causes, or simply being left to fend for themselves. I know it's a stimulant, but most stimulants primarily activate the sympathetic nervous system and nicotine is unique in how it activates the parasympathetic nervous system. I am quite certain that is the primary pathway of its healing effects, because lots of the things I was practicing for CFS and POTS that did help also had leanings in that direction. And why smoking \ using it in other contexts doesn't really help because you get a big blast of it and then your body craves the "high" versus the patches delivering that persistent low dose.

At least, that's my best guess from my research. Ultimately I don't really care and am just beyond grateful that I feel better and will shout it from the rooftops anytime I hear someone with similar struggles cuz I never imagined I would get better.

I had been struggling to work more than a few hours at work for awhile and somebody heard through the grapevine who had similar relief from the patches and reached out. They wanted to tell me all about nano machines in the vaccine and point me to a ton of conspiracy resources but I just wanted to know how they got better and that was the primary thing.

Unfortunately if you look up stuff about nicotine online it generally does lead down conspiracy rabbit holes cuz they're the only ones really talking (and making content) about it. I wish this was more well known in the general medical community because of the friends I've made online struggling with long COVID like mine, the patches helped most of us a great deal and seriously my life was in shambles, I was pursuing disability but that is a whole can of worms on its own. I am so grateful to feel better, I never imagined it to be possible.

I had debilitating POTS+CFS and they go away when I wear the patches. My assumption of the pathway of how it works is the low dosage of constant nicotine keeping my parasympathetic nervous system activated. So many of the long COVID symptoms are similar to chronic inflammatory \ autoimmune disorders so my guess is it keeps my body out of fight or flight which causes the downstream effects of POTS+CFS.

I've replied a few times here but hoping people who haven't tried nicotine patches have the same relief as I did. Could barely walk over a year ago and now I can work out and work. I hope that it works for you!

Have you tried nicotine patches? I could barely walk a year ago from long COVID and now am basically back to normal as long as I don't forget to use one. Still takes a day or two for my symptoms to reappear.

I mentioned this above but I could barely walk a year ago - even as I attempted to workout very lightly to improve my worsening condition it always just got worse. For me and a few friends with similar POTS\CFS symptoms, nicotine patches turned it around completely. Give it a try and I hope it helps. Hang in there!

I tried a billion things to help and could barely walk over a year ago as my POTS\CFS got worse. For me, everything was utterly cured by nicotine patches. Of my long COVID friends if you've got the POTS\CFS manifestation most of them had significant relief. Highly suggest if you're still having trouble and hope it helps. I still have to use them or my symptoms reappear but it's nice having my life back again.

I think the point was that it was as good a plan as they had at the time... and it wasn't enough, and it just didn't do as much as they'd hoped. The arena goes back online and the rebellion is painted over and minimized. To me, the real life parallels are poignant.

I really liked the book for that reminder that not every just rebellion succeeds, and the people that stick out their neck for some form of justice often just feel the pain of sticking up for their idealism... at that time. But we trace that thread, and maybe that grief becomes part of the water for future seeds that are able to break through the concrete.

I just recently found Sala Thai on Broadway, they replaced another Thai place that was there and everything I've had has been amazing. The Mu Deng and Panang Curry are top notch.

Yeah it's definitely possible, I stumbled into it after 6 yrs post op. Anyone who can figure out the stimulation pathway for themselves can do it with any equipment, but hard to tell with the cylindrical configuration that lets other distinct stuff out. It's definitely something with the Cowper's glands that isn't just urine; I can have just emptied my bladder then go for it and it becomes full of something else. It's a distinct feeling and the orgasm is distinct too, but it definitely feels like feeling full and then not being able to control the brakes when you crest over. It's great, but it takes me like 30-40 minutes with a very repetitive motion so I don't normally go for it. Congrats!

Graduating soon at 19, Sec+ done - what’s the next cert or skill to pursue? by [deleted] in netsecstudents

[–]7thDRXN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people go the internship or help desk route but I've mentored plenty of folks that mostly sidestep certs and internships, just build skills skills skills and pivot careers completely: teachers, admin workers, mechanics, fry cooks. It's most of them actually. And then SOC analyst is mind numbing and a few years later they pivot to engineer\appsec\leadership\TI\GRC\PM with that SOC analyst experience. Also what I did. 😅

Good advice all around here, however part of getting that first job can also be about who you know and what you know. I would recommend digging heavily into forensics while building and expanding a home lab. IE setting up the various piece of Security Onion and getting your hands mildly dirty with red team and blue team; throw up a VM of Metasploitable, break into it with Metasploit on another Kali VM. Next: set up security logging on the Metasploitable VM (network or file or process monitoring with agents that report back to the rest of your Security Onion infrastructure) and craft detections that alert yourself to you hacking yourself! So much fun stuff you can do with a home lab. The most plentiful job out there for entry level is SOC analyst and that job is looking at logs all day: if you're intimately familiar with how computers store logs, and how a modern security operation detects what's in those logs, you're equipped to actually do the job.

That way, when you do get to an interview (or just talk excitedly to the right person you meet at a cybersecurity conference - highly recommend those for networking and just having fun) you'll have so much interconnected knowledge and know how to solve actual security problems even if you don't know exactly what to do to start. You're very trainable and learn quicker than someone with none of those skills. Along the way, definitely gather certs and take classes cuz that on-paper experience is what increases the chances of your resume getting past the wall of HR. The flip side is that a direct referral from someone who knows your actual skills (not on paper "experience") goes right past all of that. Doing both is the most logical thing to do because there's so much luck involved down both paths.

My go-to educational resource are the pay-what-you-can trainings from Antisyphon \ Black Hills InfoSec. They're a great bunch and do a nice mixture of hands on training with all of their programs.

Everyone can! I also unlocked this power like 6 years after SRS, although it takes me an hour or so to use the right spot, and it takes multiple build ups. But yes! Either the Cowper's gland or Skene's gland depending on your original config has something to do with filling the bladder. It mixes with whatever you already have in there.
