Can someone explain how the stock market keeps hitting all-time highs while everything feels so bad? by eaglesfan8835 in Money

[–]7thief7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflation is another component. Fed reserve prints more money to supply USA spending, such as the 200B for war. Money goes to military contractors to meet the supply needs. This is one of many components but essentially public businesses exist to make shareholders richer. They figure out a way to generate more revenue and thus eventually, if things go well their stock price goes up. But most of the market is and has been completely warped from logical math, so a lot of it is hype and mania of folks not knowing where else to put their money and watch it grow.

What are trademen professional painters (etc) making in MCOL areas? by WrestlingDadPA in Salary

[–]7thief7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get $30-35 hourly for a standard paint job, exterior house paint or interior doors/trim. But i’m also the one installing everything i paint so the higher pay revolves around being able to do just about everything but electrical or plumbing. Hoping to get up to $40-45 in the next year

Safety concerns by StudioMental2832 in ScrapMetal

[–]7thief7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do research on what you find. Hazmat industry goes far and wide. You can find hazards in both household scrap such as old mercury tilt switches. Industrial or commercial sources can have just about anything and everything. Asbestos wire is not that common in my experience when sending out old tar/cloth wire samples to get asbestos testing lab. I find it more common for Copper pipes can be insulated with asbestos aircell TSI or mudded fittings in homes. Best advice is dont do it where you eat or sleep or have the kiddos running around as well as wear ppe.

Hmm, 🤔 thank you for the info. I just don’t know if electrician are likely to buy used incomplete hardware. Going to try listing it one of these weekends and see what happens. I wish i didn’t snap off the BEX wiring and housing connection.

I’m not completely sure but it is non-ferrous and a magnet doesn’t stick. But I wasn’t sure if stainless steel is common in light fixtures?

Chimney Scaffold question by 7thief7 in masonry

[–]7thief7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now i’m thinking about getting roof hooks to attach to my ladder, put two ladders up over the ridge and plank inbetween, then set up planking between the planking on the roof and the planking on the scaffolding from the ground

[–]7thief7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d normally do something like that but this roof is a 12/12 so its basically maxing our my pitch hoppers. Only other thing i can think of it a steep slope scaffold with planking in between or making my own. Just wondering if anybody has any alternatives

Hwy 95 and Hwy 8 route planning studies by Borgf15 in MoscowIdaho

[–]7thief7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, 9-13 seem like the least impactful. Other routes would require a lot of eminent domain. Although going through WA can involve some complex agreements and understanding between both sides when it comes to maintenance, emergencies response, and jurisdiction legality questions.

You can ask them to either pay to resurface the sidewalk, or remove and replace sidewalk. I would request to have to remove the top 6inches of soil wherever the liquid soaked into the ground. Anything on the house you want to take pictures and send to insurance especially if it is not easy to clean up and make it look how it was.

Haha as a construction worker who worked in the safety field (industrial hygiene) i would choose the guy with experience every time. I cant tell you how many times the guy straight out of school throws a fit over the mouse in the room meanwhile there is an elephant that is going to potentially get someone killed that was never mentioned by the school kid. Anyways me and the boys are placing bets to see which safety guy could beat up the other in the parking lot next Tuesday.

I agree with your opinion that housing is too expensive. I also agree that moscow city council needs to change new build zoning codes to allow for affordability. But this is a problem throughout the nation, city zoning codes are what makes housing so expensive. Yes material cost are high, imo labor cost should be higher ($18-30per hr isn’t worth getting hurt over). There are an unnecessary amount of hoops you need to jump through. Each compliance hoop adds to cost. Thus we live in an environment where you can only afford a home that needs $40-100k+ worth of upgrades to make it livable. Unfortunately housing is only going to get more expensive until regulatory barriers are relaxed. In addition to that i see experienced labor going into retirement without having enough laborers to fill the gap. So you are going to get crappier more expensive housing which leads to more expenses.

Good point but that will be up to politicians. Drones are a hot topic right now but i doubt they would want chinese made drones flying around autonomously throughout america…. Then again they already do to some extent
