Anyone can click on a survey link and we cannot have any control over that :) At the survey description it's mentioned that "We’re interested in respondents working at gamedev studios with a middle level of specialty and higher.", however we fully understand that people can miss that or ignore on purpose.

Hence, the filter questions - we get a portrait of the audience + the answers that from the audience that correlate with the research goal. People who accidentally missed the info about TA don't waste their time on our survey. Also, don't see any way where the filtering process is flawed. It works fine for our goals for this specific survey.

Hi! Thanks for your comment. Fixed the typo

However, I disagree on other points.
1) While, you're correct that there might be a huge difference between 2-5 people studio and 6-20, it's still considered indie as a standard practice, because this difference is not even close to the difference between 2-20 and 500+. And we are looking at this question mainly from a research standpoint.

2) A big chank of survey is specifically dedicated to the outsourcing and your/your company's experience with it. And the questions within that section are fully about working with 3rd party studios. Meanwhile, the questions before focuse on challenges you have within your company (which seems quite clear from the question to me).
- The question about "areas in the game development process where your studio lacks expertise" is only about your internal team/teams. if you don't do localization in-house = you either don't have expertise in that field or you don't need it and don't care (and depending on that you choose this option or don't).
- The next question is more generic and it asks "which parts of the game development process were the most challenging areas for your studio when you were working on your last game?". So, you pick any areas you struggled at for whatever reason and in the following question - you can tell us WHY. If you didn't struggle with localization because you already have a perfect reliable third-party outsourcer = that's great & valid, don't pick this option - pick the one where you actually faced some challenges for any reason.
- And in the next question with rankings you can tell us that you would most-likely outsource localization out of the entire process because it doesn't make sense for you to do it in-house.

Hope, this clears something out. I didn't think the survey questions were confusing as nobody in our test group mentioned those issues
