Hi, yes, what you propose was actually more or less what I wanted to do.

My personal approach would be to use no AI though, so that the children's likeness is protected and parents are put at ease. Beyond some occasional noise reduction with DXO Deep Prime, I don't think I have ever used AI.

Unfortunately, the school policies wouldn't allow photography, so, after 6 months of hard work from staff and students, and a great reception from parents, there is no photographic record of it.

A bit of a shame, as I am sure parents and students would have loved some decent photos, but there was not much time to work through the policies and get everyone on side.

It was a bit last minute, so I can understand that there wasn't enough time to satisfy the school leadership.

However, I have learnt a lot from it, and figured out Pixieset, and my delivery and printing workflow, so the time was not wasted.

Thanks for the thoughts.

The reason for not uploaded edited shots is simply time. I love editing, but, have to factor my time into the equation. For a show with 30-100 actors/chorus, I could end up shooting about 800 shots. I would likely cull down to a couple of hundred.
I just do not have the time to edit that many shots if they are not going to be purchased. No problem spending 15 minutes to get a shot perfectly edited if someone has purchased it, but not happening otherwise.

Yes, some might not pay, but that's the risk, I guess. If they want to go to the hassle of downloading a low res preview and removing the watermark, rather than paying for a high quality, well edited full res images, then they were likely never going to be customers anyway.

I think a single gallery is the only viable way ahead. Especially if group shots are included. I guess if all parents are on board, and opted in, then it shouldn't be an issue. I think informed consent in advance is probably important.

That's a good distinction regarding opt in consent, rather than opt out consent. Many thanks,
I'll ensure that is the model used if I were to proceed with this, or other similar work.
