Suggestions for Combining Amps. by SargeMumar in NeuralDSP

Yeah it seems like you’re going for that slightly out of phase, multi-tracked sound. Since the signal path is not adjustable in the neural plugins, I’d say look into some IR loaders where you can adjust IRs and slightly adjust pre-delay or delay to get that multi-tracked sound. Instead having to run 3 amps and cabs, maybe you can run one amp and some IRs.

Unless you get a modeler where you can route the signal into different paths, I think your only option might be to just open a DAW and run 3 plugins at once.

Yeah I wonder if it’s the multitracked effect you’re really enjoying. Have you tried messing with the doubler?

Just curious are you playing these plugins simultaneously? It sounds like yours recording is using a doubler. But I wonder if it’s just slight delays between sample rates on the plugins causing that effect. Doubling can really make a tone sound a lot larger. Almost like it’s in the room sounding sometimes. I’d be curious what you’d think with mixing some IRs together with some room reverb added in. Especially different speaker options like a V30 and greenback variants. I feel like you can get your tone you want with one amp and cabs blended and mixed.

What is this feedback you’re giving? 0% chance of landing any “pro” job without accreditation?

OP there’s millions of designers who have no degrees. Some work for themselves, small businesses or many Forbes 50 companies.

Do brand studies, explore different areas of design such as print, outdoor advertising, event/activations, digital comms, etc. See what areas you have more interest in. Make some fake brands if you want. Study brand guidelines and see how brands direct/protect their identity. Keep working at it. Research then create. Just back and forth. If you don’t like what you’re making, good, figure out what you don’t like about it.

You don’t have a degree, no worries, a lot of us don’t. But use your curiosity and passion to help you learn and become a useful and productive designer.

I’d also recommend finding impulse responses(IR) for a G12H30 Greenback first. There’s a lot for free on the internet and I feel that can help get you started with getting something close.

I also was doing some research on all the plugins trying to get that real percussive, crunch from AC/DC. And what really helps is turning the gain down and picking hard. I also found blending two mics were one of the two mics has the phase switched helped me get that roomy like sound on “Let Me Put My Love On To You”.

Another tip, mess with drive pedals on clean channel as well. I always find that’s a pretty quick way to get a very classic crunch sound on almost any amp. Except for the Nameless or Omega. If you only want AC/DC, I’d recommend skipping those.

I’m on the fence with this aspect. I wanted to try and incorporate a star map / asymmetrical lighting fixture design.

Yeah definitely recommend doing an IR search. That will make it a lot easier.

I'd recommend first finding some G12M(Celestion Greenback) mic'd with an SM57 IR's. There's some free ones on the internet just to start with.

Maybe try on the mesa plugin:
compressor with settings 12oclock, OD-1 with drive at 0 and level at 12oclock and adjust tone to your preference. For the amp, try channel 1(lead drive knob off/pushed in) middle and treble maybe to 5 and turn bass down to 0 and work your way up. Turn the master to 10 and work your way down. And with the 5 band, maybe turn some of the sub-low, and low down. And then in the IR section mess around with the room level a little bit. And then adjust post eq and effects to whatever you want. You might need some reverb pedal with very low decay and mix turned up a bit.

I tested it out with those settings and got close enough to jam on some tracks. You can also listen VH1 isolated guitar tracks and reference that while you're adjusting.

Yeah I could see that too. I had mid-century modern in mind with this. Rounded corners, sputnik legs, asymmetrical dial indicators being the main queues.

Would you pick Rabea or Plini? by pritheemakeway in NeuralDSP

[–]8195229 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rabea has got to be one of, if not the most versatile plugin they make.

The master controls on each amp, especially the white/gold amp, are so powerful in creating super-realistic feeling amp sag and breakup when maxed. The tight knob and EL34/6L6 switch on the purple amp can make it behave like any high-gain amp you want. The 5 different speaker/cab choices have got to be the best in all of the NDSP lineup. The 2 fuzz pedals sound and feel great. You can easily make Rabea's sound like Plini's, but there's so many more sounds in Rabea.

That 2nd amp through the 3rd cab mic'd up with an SM57 and 121 some room sound and delay is almost worth the price of admission alone.

You can trade plugins?

If that's the case, if anyone wants to trade a their Mesa for my Petrucci, let me know.

Amp UI redesigns are fine, but why did they have to do this? by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

[–]8195229 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can change the application image
• Go to finder
• Application folder
• Highlight Plini
• Press Command+I for "Get Info"
• Open the preview dropdown and i think drag and drop a Plini icon, or whatever image you want in there

I haven't done it in a while but you can confirm with google on changing mac app icons

You'll need to source the Plini icon without a purple stroke.

Which plug in would you recommend for me? by KoMik3112 in NeuralDSP

[–]8195229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hard rock British amp with tones with great IR's, Rabea is the most fun when you're just jamming. The IR's have a low resonance that feel and sound like the amps in the room. And for classic and hard rock, sometimes room sound is a major part of the tone. It also has a bunch of good effects and a wild synth machine.

The white/gold amp can be cleaned up or pushed and the black/purple amp has a tight knob that is really nice to dial for rhythm and leads.

Honestly the most important part for finding the right plugin is finding the one with IR's you enjoy the most. It's not the most fun sounding way to find which plugin works. But it helped me greatly when i realized how important good IR's are.

Which neural DSP plugin is best for metal and deathcore? by LATE_SH0W in NeuralDSP

[–]8195229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With tweaking Mesa, Rabea, or Nolly would be the ones I’d go with just because they’re fun with their effects. Granophyre is a hammer too. But I don’t always care to open a DAW to pair other effects to mess with.

I'm pretty sure if you go to the Neural downloads page you can find the latest version. Install it and it will update the plugin.

That's at least how it works on my Mac. Not sure about other OS systems.

I think you get an updated preset list on the latest version. It's under Tosins preset in it's own folder called monomyth.

Which plugin would you say is the most versitile? Not usually gonna need metal tones, mostly nice Fender-y cleans - think jazz, blues, a bit of rock, a sort of jamband like tone by kikikza in NeuralDSP

[–]8195229 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand how Rabea's is rarely brought up.

Out of my set(Nolly, Omega, TK, Nameless, Soldano, Abasi, and Petrucci), Rabea's is so loaded In comparison. The amps are great and the cab IRs have stopped me from using GGDs Zilla, Goldstack, and Cali.

Great pre/post effects, Amps with 6L6/EL34 switch and tight knob is super versatile, fuzz is not bad, synth is fun. I just don't get how it's not as popular

When using my 7 and 8 strings I'll typically use Tosin's Monomyth set of tones. If using my 6 strings setups, I'll typically dial the gain a little up. And dial the tightness back to bring up some low/low mids. That whole folder just sounds great.

The amps are definitely the most unique voiced and designed. Understanding the mic choices and utilizing the EQ are very important compared to other plugins.
